Description

The Aladdin Sane is looking for a passionate bartender. The Aladdin Sane, the bespoke cocktail lounge underneath the historic Book Tower in Downtown Detroit. With a wide-ranging menu of experimental drinks, perfected standards, and late-night digestifs. Our bar program draws inspiration from the tenets of Japanese bartending: bring together the best spirits from around the world, express their essence, and create balance. Bartender Job Responsibilities: Commitment to high standards with impeccable attention to detail Strong, upbeat and positive personality Own and manage rotation of clean and polished glassware Properly handle cash and closing guest tabs Keep a clean and properly rotated bar, using older product before moving into fresh prep. Quality check all day old stock before using. Work clean, as all service areas are within full view of guests. During down time, checking off cleaning duties on weekly cleaning schedule At end of night, performing closing duties to completion Passion for food, beverage and hospitality Ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast paced environment Team oriented mentality Dependability Required Experience: Knowledge of Japanese Whiskey and Sake preferred Minimum 3-4 years of bartending experience in an upscale setting Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills Must be a team player with a strong work ethic Ability to lift, move, carry 30 – 40 lb boxes, crates Working Conditions/Environment The person having this position may have to stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight to 10 (8 to 10) hours per day. Agility in executing fast-paced movements to navigate different areas of the property efficiently. The person having this responsibility may have to move, pull, carry, or lift objects weighing at least 50 pounds.
