    "description": "<h2>Job Description</h2>\n<p>Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, Critical Care Program CVH, the Recreational Therapist will work within the context of a dynamic client/patient and family recovery model of care, and in accordance with established standards of practice, and the vision and values of the organization. The Recreational Therapist will join a robust interprofessional team as part of the novel Long-Stay Program supporting acute critical care patients who are working towards ventilation liberation and rehabilitative opportunities. The Recreational Therapist works in a team-based environment promoting a holistic leisure lifestyle by addressing the social, physical, spiritual, emotional, and cognitive needs of clients/patients. Will develop, plan, facilitate, schedule, organize, and implement various therapeutic recreation programs within our unique critical care inpatient environment. This will be established by conducting assessments, developing individual recreation plans, completing patient documentation, skill, instruction, development of program goals and objectives, and evaluating a variety of individual and group recreation programs. Contacts will include staff, clients, and families.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>What must you have?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited university</li>\n <li>Member in good standing with Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO)</li>\n <li>Current Basic Rescuer Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support required</li>\n <li>1 to 3 years of recent clinical experience in recreation and leisure counseling</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>What else do you bring?</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience in planning and program delivery for groups and individuals from various medical/surgical and complex care environments including rehabilitation.</li>\n <li>Recent experience in volunteer programs and/or working with volunteers</li>\n <li>Understanding of recreation therapy methodologies, principles, and practice for those on a journey of rehabilitation after chronic illness.</li>\n <li>Maintains membership in professional job-related organizations as related to area of expertise and knowledge of current trends, such as Therapeutic Recreation Ontario, (TR0), Activity Professionals of Ontario and Ontario Gerontological Association</li>\n <li>Strong working knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and practices </li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to in developing, organizing, implementing leisure/recreation programs and assessing leisure needs/goals</li>\n <li>Experience in facilitating individual and group interventions</li>\n <li>Able to discern relevant information to make effective decisions regarding patient care planning</li>\n <li>Able to access appropriate community supports and work effectively with a culturally diverse and complex clientele</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently, self-directed, and can effectively facilitate programs</li>\n <li>Able to work collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team</li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with an ability to deliver information and work effectively with patients, families and colleagues.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated strong decision-making, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. </li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to take initiative and adjust to new or unexpected events.</li>\n <li>Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.</li>\n <li>Proven attendance record. </li>\n <li>Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all. </li>\n <li>Ability to perform the essential duties of the job. </li>\n <li>Ability to analyze research and implement evidence-based practice into Policy and Procedure development and clinical practice</li>\n <li>Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring and values – Excellence, Leadership and Empathy. </li>\n <li>Commitment to providing an exceptional experience for staff and clients within a challenging and exciting health care environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Preferably, your profile also includes:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Music Therapy capacity is an asset</li>\n <li>Recent experience in working with ventilated patients an asset</li>\n <li>Gerontology focus with expertise in rehabilitation, reactivation restoration and leisure counseling</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>*You may be required to work at any site of Mackenzie Health.</p>\n<h2>---</h2>\n<p>Mackenzie Health is an inclusive and equal opportunity employer committed to providing accommodations for applicants upon request at any stage of the recruitment process in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Ontario Human Rights Code.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Our hiring process does not involve the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to screen, assess or select applicants. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><em>We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those under consideration for an interview will be contacted.</em></p>",
