Job Summary: The Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the independent design, development, and optimization of dry type transformers, as well as transferring documentation to build dry/oil transformers or related components in different locations. As a fully competent engineer, the role involves applying well-established expertise to complete tasks and projects with minimal supervision. This role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams and occasional mentoring of less experienced engineers. The Senior Mechanical Engineer contributes to product performance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction while ensuring compliance with industry standards. One of the main activities is to provide support to the manufacturing area directly on site, whether for the construction of new designs, prototypes, proposing improvements and solving engineering problems. This role will be onsite in Celina, TN. Relocation Assistance is available. Responsibilities Independently design and develop mechanical systems and components for distribution dry type transformers, PDUs, Reactors and Special transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA) and customer specifications. Conduct engineering analyses to optimize product performance, cost, and efficiency. Perform detailed failure analysis on design-related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure successful integration of designs into production. Participate in design reviews to provide technical input and ensure that designs meet project and customer requirements. Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports. Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure product designs remain competitive and compliant. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and efficiency in the design process. Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance as needed, though leadership is not a primary focus of this role. Analyze mechanical systems using both classical engineering methods and computer-aided tools (FEA, thermal/structural analysis). Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. More than 5 years of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, with a focus on transformer or related product design. Proficiency with design and analysis tools, including electrical and thermal analysis software (e.g., OPS Transformer Design Software, SolidWorks). Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA) and regulatory requirements for transformers or components. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working in cross-functional teams.
