MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A bachelor's degree in education or discipline related to academic advising assignment and one year of related experience, OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and data collection and analysis experience preferred. ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS: The Academic Advisors primary emphasis is on providing full-time advising services to an assigned caseload of undergraduate students. Responsibilities include: Exploratory/pre-major advising Proactive advising for special populations First-Year mandatory meetings Advising students on academic notice General advice, referral to campus resources, and policy/procedure clarification delivered via appointments, email, phone, drop-in, and Add/Drop/Swap advising Pre-registration advising and Transfer student onboarding in summer as well as Oxford Continuee onboarding twice per year Participate in ECAS annual orientation activities. Participate in ECS 101 as well as annual orientation and graduation activities, and annual orientation. Facilitate and advise on academic actions such as incompletes, course withdrawals, leaves of absence, transfers, readmissions, and underloads/overloads Work with Deans of Academic Advising and Support to resolve complex student cases Assist with issues impacting academic success: o CARE reports o Exceptions after the deadline due to extenuating circumstances o Referrals to partner offices Assist with inquiries/requests from [email protected] PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A master’s degree in a relevant field, including higher education or a liberal arts field. Professional experience working as an academic advisor in an academic affairs office or similar setting. Experience with data collection and analysis. Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds including at-risk and/or first-generation students. Experience with student success programs focusing on retention and graduation. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
