This position provides a collaborative workspace alongside a board-certified surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity orthopedics. Updates status of patients scheduled for recheck visits.</li><li>Interprets x-rays.</li><li>Order additional imaging such as CTs and MRIs</li><li>Performs knee and shoulder injections.</li><li>Applies casts, splints, braces, etc. under supervision of the physician.</li><li>Removes staples, sutures, etc.</li><li>Prescribes medication</li><li>Sees patients in the clinic both independently and with supervision. Dictates clinic progress notes. Orders appropriate tests and develops patient treatment plans with physician approval.</li></ul><p>Other Functions</p><ul><li>Assists in fielding/triaging physician calls.</li><li>Accurate and complete documentation of all patient visits</li><li>Occasional peer to peer review for MRIs he/she has ordered</li><li>Follow up calls as needed</li></ul><p>Performs other duties within the guidelines per department and policy within normal scope and characteristics of the sponsoring/attending physician’s practice and current clinical privileges.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Communication</strong></p><p><br></p><p><u>Internal:</u> Physicians, other P.A.s and N.Ps, administrators, clinical and non-clinical staff</p><p><u>External:</u> Patients, families, outside referral sources/physicians, hospital personnel, vendors, regulatory/insurance personnel.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p><strong>Work Environment</strong></p><p><br></p><p>Occasional exposure to electrical and chemical hazards; position requires lifting associated with patient transfers (up to 50 lbs.); requires the ability to bend and stoop without difficulty; involves exposure to blood-borne pathogens; requires verbal/written communication ability in the English language; involves exposure to weather elements and travel to all association hospitals and/or HOA facilities.</p>",
