Commission Membership: The Commission has 17 members, which includes 9 voting members and 8 nonvoting advisory members. 9 Voting Members 6 shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council, in accordance with  § 1-523.01(f) . 3 voting members shall be appointed by the Council. 8 Nonvoting Advisory Members 3 appointed by the Mayor The presidents or chief executive officers of 2 District hospitals who have access to health outcomes databases, or their designees. A representative from an insurance company who has access to health outcomes databases 4 Council appointees The Chairperson of the Council committee with jurisdiction over the Department of Health, who shall serve as an ex-officio member; 3 community advisory members, one each from Wards 5, 7, and 8, appointed by the Council; 1 appointed by the voting members of the Commission Patient organization representative (an individual who works for a national or local healthcare or health promotion organization) Qualifications for Appointment: Each voting member shall have expertise in at least one of the following areas: Health equity, social determinants, and health disparities; Social and human services and vulnerable populations; Early learning and education; Minority communities and population health outcomes and improvement; Economic and community development; or Ecology and the natural and built environment.
