Safety is foundational to everything we do.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Overview:</span></p>\n<p>This posting is for an <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Environmental Planning &amp; Regulatory Discipline Lead</span> who will play a key leadership role within AJM’s growing environmental consulting practice. This role combines senior technical expertise, people leadership, and strategic influence over the direction of AJM’s planning services.</p>\n<p>AJM is not a traditional large consulting organization, and that is intentional. In this role, you will directly shape projects, mentor and develop people, and influence how our services continue to evolve - offering a level of visibility and impact rarely found in larger consulting organizations.</p>\n<p>The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, managing and advancing AJM’s environmental planning and regulatory discipline while remaining actively involved in project delivery. This includes regulatory applications, compliance and monitoring programs, environmental inspections, and risk assessments across a range of development types.</p>\n<p>AJM’s projects span multiple sectors, including energy, mining, government agencies, NGOs / non-profits, and other land-use driven developments. Collaboration across AJM’s biophysical disciplines (wetlands, aquatics, vegetation, regulatory, and geospatial &amp; data) is an important component of this role, supporting integrated project delivery and shared learning.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">You’ll Thrive Here If You’re Motivated By:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A fast-paced and dynamic consulting environment;</li>\n<li>Being part of a growing company where individual efforts are recognized;</li>\n<li>Leading and mentoring others while staying connected to the work;</li>\n<li>Opportunities to influence work beyond a narrow technical scope and learn about a variety of aspects of the environmental industry; and</li>\n<li>A strong and supportive team culture grounded in trust, accountability, hard work and fun!</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Roles &amp; Responsibilities</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Technical Leadership &amp; Project Delivery</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead and manage regulatory and environmental planning projects, including budgeting, scheduling, invoicing, issue management, and delivery of high-quality final products;</li>\n<li>Prepare and provide senior technical oversight of regulatory applications, submissions, approval strategies and environmental planning deliverables submitted to agencies such as AER, EPA, CER, AUC, and others;</li>\n<li>Design and oversee field-based audit, compliance assurance, and environmental monitoring programs;</li>\n<li>Lead environmental inspections of construction activities, including pipelines, drilling programs, and other linear and facility-based developments;</li>\n<li>Conduct and oversee desktop and field-level environmental risk assessments to support planning, permitting, and construction phases;</li>\n<li>Act as a technical liaison between clients, regulators, and internal teams to support efficient approvals and issue resolution; and</li>\n<li>Support proposal development, scope definition, and pricing for regulatory and environmental planning work.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Discipline &amp; People Leadership</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead AJM’s Environmental Planning &amp; Regulatory discipline, including technical standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives;</li>\n<li>Mentor, coach, and support Intermediate and Junior staff in technical, professional, and consulting skill development;</li>\n<li>Act as a cultural and safety role model, reinforcing AJM’s core values across teams and projects;</li>\n<li>Maintain the ability and willingness to participate in field-based inspections, audits, and monitoring when required;</li>\n<li>Build and maintain strong, trusted client relationships through high-quality work and responsive service;</li>\n<li>Actively contribute to business development through client engagement, opportunity identification, and proposal support;</li>\n<li>Represent AJM externally through client meetings, regulatory meetings, conferences, and industry forums as appropriate; and</li>\n<li>Work independently and occasionally outside of standard office hours to meet project deadlines and client needs.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Skills &amp; Qualifications</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>BSc. in Environmental Science, Biology, Planning, Ecology, or a related discipline</li>\n<li>Registered, or eligible for registration, with an applicable professional association (e.g., P.Biol., R.P. Bio., P.Ag., or equivalent, depending on background)</li>\n<li>10+ years of progressive environmental consulting experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities</li>\n<li>Strong technical expertise in environmental planning, regulatory approvals, compliance, monitoring, and inspection programs</li>\n<li>Demonstrated experience working with provincial and federal regulators and regulatory frameworks</li>\n<li>Proven ability to mentor staff and lead teams in a consulting environment</li>\n<li>Strong communication and technical writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear, defensible regulatory documentation</li>\n<li>Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and ambiguity</li>\n<li>A self-starter who thrives working both independently and as part of a collaborative team</li>\n<li>Enthusiasm, accountability, and a commitment to professional growth at AJM</li>\n<li>A strong track record of fostering and maintaining a positive health and safety culture</li>\n<li>Comfortable learning and using new technology to improve efficiency and outcomes (and having fun while doing so!);</li>\n<li>An entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to help grow and shape a technical discipline; and</li>\n<li>A natural collaborator and cultural ambassador who models AJM’s values in all aspects of the role!</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Safety Requirement</span></p>\n<p>This role is considered safety-sensitive and will require the successful completion of drug screenings at various times during employment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Interested in Joining AJM?</span></p>\n<p>If this role sounds like a strong fit, we would love to hear from you!
