    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">NOW HIRING:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Sports Camp Counselor</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Applicants must be 18 years or older.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"color: rgb(51, 51, 51)\">Mature individuals needed for our Sports Camp for Grades 3-8 at the Community Pavilion. </span>Applicants must be 18 years or older, should have some knowledge of various sports including basketball, baseball, volleyball, hockey, soccer, etc. Counselors will assist with daily games, sports and tournaments on site, and will assist with set up and clean up, among other responsibilities. Experience working with kids in sports is a plus. Individuals should possess good leadership abilities, have good communication skills and a good work ethic. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">INCENTIVES</span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">:</span>  Part time employees receive 25% off general programs with the exception of PDNA, contracted, trips and private lessons. In order to encourage a healthy lifestyle for our staff members, the Park District provides all staff with the opportunity to use our fitness facilities at the Community Pavilion and the Racquet, Fitness and Gymnastics Center free of charge.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ABOUT US: </span>The Oak Lawn Park District, incorporated in 1944, has a long and proud history of serving the recreational needs of our 56,000 residents with a myriad of recreational programs and services. We operate under the state tax cap as a municipal corporation, meaning we are our own taxing body. Overseen by a Board of five elected officials, the District manages a combination of 34 parks and facilities which cover over 280 acres. Must be a High School graduate, preferably college student or graduate pursuing degree in Education, Physical Education, Recreation or another related field.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Sports Camp Assistant Director and Director</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- On a daily basis, meet with Sports Camp Asst. Director or Director to review the day’s activities. Each counselor is then responsible for carrying out these activities.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Assist and initiate the planning and implementation of daily camp activities. Must organize both sports and games.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Counselors are to provide instruction for various sports and games.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Responsible for accurately filling out Accident/Incident Reports and submitting to Sports Camp Director.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Responsible for disciplining campers appropriately, following the Oak Lawn Park District Sports Camp Discipline policy. Communicate camper issues with Sports Camp Asst. Director or Director.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Counselors are responsible for the close supervision of campers while at the pools.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Counselors are required to be in the pool with campers for close supervision.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Supervise campers closely while on busses.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Provide excellent customer service to parents</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Keep inventory of first aid supplies on you at all times. Be prepared to administer first aid on injured campers.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Supervise campers during lunchtime.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Typical work hours for Sports Camp Counselors are 8:15am-2:45pm or Before or Extended hours.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Attend all Park District mandatory training sessions and meetings.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Must become CPR and First Aid certified.</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">- Counselors are evaluated verbally on a weekly basis. A full written evaluation is done on each counselor at the end of the second session.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS</span><br><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, see, hear, talk, walk, lift and carry up to 25 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, crouch or reach to retrieve supplies and assist campers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The job requires staff to be outdoors about 70% of the time.
