Position Summary
Responsible for promoting rentals in addition to booking and organizing staffing for all facility rentals, Marketing and City social media and web presence. Compiling and preparing fiscal and other types of reports, organizing meetings and preparing agendas and minutes. Running the day-to-day operations at the St. Johns River Center (i.e. scheduling field trips, conducting mini lessons, and organizing volunteers). This position receives general supervision and direction from the Community Affairs Director and requires occasional night and weekend work, wherein flex time would be utilized instead of overtime, when possible.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Guides scheduled interpretive/educational tours of City’s cultural facilities Coordinates and develops work schedules of part time assistants and volunteers to assure adequate coverage of staff resources Acts as a representative of the City of Palatka at various functions, where applicable Develops press releases, brochures, flyers and other marketing materials as needed Maintains the City webpage and social media presence Performs essential duties under minimum supervision Designs and implements interpretive programs to meet state educational standards Able to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment, regularly working with the general public and specifically school aged children Attend City meetings to provide written reports as needed Coordinates maintenance and janitorial tasks in the City’s Cultural Facilities. Receive instruction, work independently, and relay information accurately. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced environment, regularly working with the public and school aged children. Ability to act as a representative of the City of Palatka. Education and/or Experience:
Associates Degree or High School Diploma with equivalent job experience
Computer Skills. Competency in Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Publisher.
Environment &Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand outdoors for an externed period in various weather conditions. Ability to climb and descend stairs multiple times per day. Ability to see and hear, as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to reach, pull, push, walk, stand, kneel, bend, balance, stoop, climb, crawl, and drive. Ability to work varied hours and shifts, impacted by volunteer staff availability, special events, promotional events, tours and facility rental needs. Weekend and evening work may be required. Employee is expected to work forty hours per week utilizing a flexible schedule; overtime must be approved in advance.
