Description

Overview The Legal Services Manager is a key member of the legal team, and is accountable for reviewing, evaluating, monitoring and/or leading an indirect team to execute on ATI’s professional and general liability claims submissions processes and claims management, deposition coordination & preparation processes, health and employment record subpoena response processes, corporate governance support and ensuring that we deliver the same to meet the needs of ATI, its patients, clients, and employees while delivering a smooth and efficient ATI legal team customer experience.This role provides coaching and delivers expertise and support to team members ensuring ATI’s legal processes are administered efficiently by the team. The role will establish and maintain processes and guidelines along with identifying new and innovative ways to engage current and future ATI team members. Responsibilities Office Operations • Leads the daily operations of a team focused on professional and general liability claims submissions processes, deposition coordination & preparation processes, and health and employment record subpoena response processes• Responsible for day-to-day correspondence and negotiation with third party law firms regarding records fees and fees payable for clinician testimony• Assists with the preparation of ATI employees involved in litigation as witnesses• Facilitates leadership decision making by analyzing options, forecasting future costs and making smart recommendations that fit the desired ATI outcomes• Utilizes a hospitality and customer focused mindset for managing escalations, change management and communication planning Technology & Systems• Applies process improvement mindset to understand workflows and enable the process to flow more smoothly leveraging enterprise level systems• Optimizes and leverages technology blended with workflow/process discipline to ensure complete work in the most effective and efficient manner• Partners across the broader legal, compliance and other ATI teams to connect workflow “dots” to ensure efficient and effective execution Legal Claim Management• Expedites delivery of oral and written responses by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with third party attorneys and record copy services• Handles confidential information related to ATI, its patients and its employees• Maintains client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential• Handles client intake procedure and file management Customer/Client Relations• Serve as point of contact for clients regarding administrative matters• Resolve gaps and customer specific scenarios related to legal services while showing empathy, understanding and seeking to find win-win resolutions for ATI, its patients and its employees• Acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, including high level staff such as CEO, CFO, senior management Financial & Billing Administration• Achieves financial objectives by assisting with the preparation of legal team operational budgets, analyzing variance and initiating corrective actions• Work with attorneys to support billing compliance Special Projects• Works independently and within a team on special and nonrecurring and ongoing projects. Acts as a project manager for special projects, which may include managing insurance renewals, planning and coordinating multiple presentations, disseminating information, and handling communications, etc. Qualifications Minimum Education Required: • Bachelor’s degree or JD and 3+ year as a member of an in-house legal team or law firm or equivalent years of experience as a member of an in-house legal team in lieu of degree Preferred: • Bachelor’s degree or JD and 5+ year as a member of an in-house legal team or law firm or equivalent years of experience as a member of an in-house legal team in lieu of degree• At least 3 years litigation experience required Minimum Experience Required: • 3+ years as a member of an in-house legal team or law firm • At least 3 years litigation experience • Proven experience with claims management Preferred: • 5+ years as a member of an in-house legal team or law firm• 3 or more years of supervisory experience • Healthcare legal and compliance experience (ex., HIPAA, Stark, AKS) Knowledge Skills and Abilities • Brings a customer service mentality and focus every day – serving as a role model for both what you do and how you do it• Brings a point of view for how best to integrate new ideas, legal services and initiatives based on research, trend assessment or best practices from outside organizations• Ability to root cause issues quickly and uncover core issues using research and data, then assist, consult with and help get to the outcome• Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact in a cross-functional environment across all levels of executive management and a geographically dispersed footprint• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain internal relationships; able to drive alignment• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; self-motivated and able to motivate others• Bias for action in resolving challenges, handling a variety of different situations and dynamics• Proven expertise managing, evaluating, analyzing quickly and creating meaningful business reporting• Be a great coach using positive reinforcement, providing clear feedback and follow through – contribute to the overall engaging environment of the ATI teams connected to legal and compliance• Be a collaborator – partnerships with teams like HR, Communications, Clinical Operations, Finance and IT are must-haves to build and activate strategic initiatives• Brings an improvement mindset for how to best leverage enterprise level systems to eliminate manual process steps or exceptions• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate a blend of flexibility, knowledge of the business and diversity of activity each day Licenses and Certifications Required: • None Preferred: • Certified Paralegal (CP), Registered Paralegal/Core Registered Paralegal (RP/CRP).
