The Opportunity At Sema4.ai, we're building an Enterprise AI Agent platform that reinvents how knowledge work happens—how people and AI agents collaborate to get work done better and faster. You'll be the hands-on leader responsible for building the core of our product: the Agent. We're hiring a Technical Lead who is deeply technical and can architect cutting-edge AI systems while remaining hands-on with implementation. You'll guide the technical direction of our platform while mentoring senior engineers and driving engineering excellence across the team. Who You Are We're seeking a dynamic Forward Deployed Engineer who thrives in fast-paced customer environments and brings deep technical expertise in AI agents. You'll work directly with enterprise clients to design, build, and deploy custom AI agent solutions while serving as the technical bridge between customers and our engineering team. You bring a "big motor"—the drive and energy to be first in the office, last to leave, and passionate about making customers successful. What You’ll Do Primary Focus: Deploy Production Agents Understanding the Customer Requirements and ideal target pieces for an Agent Define the success criteria for the AI agent Build and deploy production-ready AI agents that solve real business problems for enterprise customers Lead proof of concept (POC) development and transition agents from pilot to production Architect and implement custom AI agent solutions tailored to specific customer workflows and requirements Technical Implementation & Support Provide hands-on technical implementation support, including Python development, SQL database work, and AWS infrastructure Develop example agents that demonstrate platform capabilities and best practices Troubleshoot complex technical issues across the AI agent stack, from integration challenges to performance optimization Create and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, integration guides, and deployment runbooks Customer Success & Account Management Act as the Technical Account Manager (TAM) for assigned customers, ensuring ongoing success and value realization Build deep relationships with customer technical teams and key stakeholders Collaborate closely with Sema4.ai's engineering team to provide customer feedback and drive product improvements Conduct technical workshops and training sessions to enable customer teams Technical Consultation & Solution Design Serve as a subject matter expert on Sema4.ai's AI agent platform and emerging AI technologies Understand customer business challenges and translate them into technical agent solutions Deliver compelling technical demonstrations showcasing the platform's capabilities Provide technical guidance on integration with existing enterprise systems What You Bring Required Experience 3-4+ years of experience ideally in a consulting firm, systems integration role, or similar customer-facing technical position Proven track record of working with multiple enterprise customers and delivering successful technical implementations Experience deploying production software solutions in enterprise environments Technical Skills AI & Agent Expertise: Strong understanding of AI agents, LLMs, LangChain, CrewAI, n8n, RAG architectures, and agentic application patterns Python Proficiency: Ability to build and deploy Python applications quickly (sub-15 minutes for simple apps) Development Tools: Excellent working knowledge of VSCode and/or Cursor Cloud Infrastructure: Strong working knowledge of AWS services and deployment Database Skills: SQL expertise and experience with database integration and troubleshooting API Integration: Experience with API integrations and software development principles AI Fundamentals: Understanding of natural language processing (NLP), machine learning (ML), and automation concepts Preferred Experience Experience with conversational AI platforms and business workflow automation Background in Technical Account Management or Forward Deployed Engineering roles Familiarity with the broader AI ecosystem and latest developments in agentic AI What Sets You Apart Big Motor & Work Ethic: You're energized by customer challenges, maintain high urgency, and bring exceptional drive to everything you do Customer-First Mentality: You're passionate about customer success and delivering measurable business value Technical Problem Solver: You excel at identifying root causes and resolving complex technical challenges under pressure Collaborative Team Player: You work seamlessly across sales, engineering, product, and customer success teams Consultative Approach: You understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions that drive outcomes Self-Motivated & Adaptable: You thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced startup environments and drive results independently Exceptional Communicator: You communicate clearly and effectively with both technical teams and C-level executives Detail-Oriented: You manage complex, multi-threaded projects while maintaining quality and attention to detail How We Work We move fast and value autonomy.
