Provides patient education, especially in regard to pharmaceuticals and supports the business goals of the practice.</p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Clinical Support</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Greets patient and escorts them from the waiting room to exam rooms; prepares patients for exam or treatment; takes vital signs.</li>\r\n\t<li>Provides assistance to physician when requested.</li>\r\n\t<li>Performs Spirometry and other breathing tests as ordered.</li>\r\n\t<li>Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization.</li>\r\n\t<li>Performs patient education when appropriate.</li>\r\n\t<li>Completes appropriate documentation in patients medical record.</li>\r\n\t<li>Facilitates prescriptions for patients as ordered by physician or nurse practitioner.</li>\r\n\t<li>Performs allergy prick testing and/or intradermal testing as ordered by physician.</li>\r\n\t<li>Administers allergy injections to shot patients as set forth on physician approved schedule.</li>\r\n\t<li>Monitors patients medical status for possible adverse reaction following receipt of allergy injection.</li>\r\n\t<li>Maintains emergency equipment, including oxygen, crash cart and supplies, suction, etc.</li>\r\n\t<li>As necessary: appropriately assesses/evaluates patient problems over the phone, utilizing approved telephone triage protocol to determine the level of care the caller needs.</li>\r\n\t<li>Demonstrates good clinical judgment, critical thinking skills, assessment skills, careful listening and good communication skills. Documents calls thoroughly and closes the loop between self, patient and provider in a timely manner.</li>\r\n\t<li>Scribe for providers as requested/required by role within practice.</li>\r\n\t<li>Follows standardized assisted documentation workflows as outlined in scribe policies.</li>\r\n\t<li>Follows up to obtain referrals and insurance authorization as requested and needed.</li>\r\n\t<li>Ability to organize requirements for biologics whether via Specialty Pharmacy or Buy and Bill.</li>\r\n\t<li>This includes proper completion of all necessary paper work for ordering, billing, and reimbursement of biologics</li>\r\n\t<li>Maintains clinical supply stock and medication samples.</li>\r\n\t<li>Collaborates with patients, colleagues and interdisciplinary team members to achieve desired outcomes.</li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Other</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Maintains patient confidentiality; complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice.</li>\r\n\t<li>Maintains detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions.</li>\r\n\t<li>Attends CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, and Compliance training programs as required.</li>\r\n\t<li>Attends all regular meetings.</li>\r\n\t<li>Participates in professional development activities</li>\r\n\t<li>Performs all other tasks and projects assigned by the Practice Manager.</li>\r\n\t<li><span style=\"font-size:12pt;\"><span>Completes all assigned AP training (such as CPR, OSHA, HIPAA, Compliance, Information Security, others) within designated timeframes.</span></span></li>\r\n\t<li><span style=\"font-size:12pt;\"><span>Complies with Allergy Partners and respective hub/department policies and reports incidents of policy violations to a Supervisor/Manager/Director, Department of Compliance &amp; Privacy or via the AP EthicsPoint hotline.</span></span></li>\r\n</ul>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Restrictions:</strong><br />\r\nEach RN, LPN, or LVN will work within their scope of practice as outlined by their state board of nursing.
