    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p><span><strong>Commodity Manager - Mechanical</strong></span></p><p><span><strong>Location: Pittsburgh, PA</strong></span></p><p><span>We are recruiting a Commodity Manager to join our Procurement team at Industrial Scientific.&nbsp;Reporting into the Director, Global Procurement, you will be responsible for managing and providing leadership for global spend within the Mechanical parts commodity that includes industrial gases, sensors, plastics, pumps, packaging, and hardware.</span></p><p><span>You will be responsible for developing and executing commodity strategies to improve cost, productivity, quality, and innovation capabilities within the global supply base. As part of this, you will analyze and manage the company’s&nbsp;global commodity spend, assess market conditions, identify opportunities to create value for the company, and align business needs for quality, cost, delivery, and growth.</span></p><p><span><strong>Responsibilities &amp; Deliverables</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Develop high-efficiency, high-quality domestic and/or global sources of supply for materials and services.</span></li><li><span>Manage the supply base through supplier scorecards and quarterly business reviews.</span></li><li><span>Manage commodity spend using procurement processes &amp; systems. Focus on price, quality, delivery, innovation, supply chain efficiency &amp; working capital.</span></li><li><span>Develop and present commodity strategies, detailed reports, analysis, and sourcing or business-related presentations to staff and management.</span></li><li><span>Negotiate, implement, and manage contracts.</span></li><li><span>Able to project manage a cross-functional team, including suppliers, to successfully implement a commodity strategy, cost savings initiative, or transition a source of supply.</span></li><li><span>Stays current on new processes, techniques and supplier capabilities using continuous improvement tools while ensuring leverage across operating units.</span></li><li><span>Use data analytics, industry benchmarking, and strategic sourcing methodologies to build a robust pipeline of PPV/VAVE cost savings initiatives.</span></li><li><span>Collaborate with Fortive Commodity Managers to ensure best practices and greatest leverage in procurement, low-cost region sourcing, supplier assessment &amp; management.</span></li><li><span>Manage outsourcing and dual-sourcing initiatives within the commodity space.</span></li><li><span>Must be able to travel up to 20% to find, develop, and manage domestic and/or global sources of supply.</span></li><li><span>Other duties as assigned.</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span><strong>Organizational Alignment&nbsp;</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>This role reports directly to the Director, Global Procurement and works very closely with the Material Planning, Supplier Quality, Asia Pacific Operations &amp; Engineering teams.&nbsp;</span></li></ul><p>&nbsp;</p><p><span><strong>Qualifications</strong></span></p><p><span><strong>Skills &amp; Work Traits</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Solid business judgment, including the ability to anticipate the impact of decisions.</span></li><li><span>Ability to consult, advise and influence cross-functionally at all levels of the organization.</span></li><li><span>Highly analytical, with a clear, logical understanding of problem-solving including Root Cause, Corrective Action, Countermeasures, Problem Solving, and Action Plan development and execution.</span></li><li><span>Ability to navigate through ambiguity and change; excel in a fast-paced environment.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span>Strong financial acumen and ability to develop financial business cases for strategic decision making.</span></li><li><span>Capacity to be a change agent, demonstrating persistence and resilience when faced with challenges.</span></li><li><span>Excellent negotiation and conflict management abilities.</span></li><li><span>Ability to leverage metrics and other tools to drive supplier performance.</span></li><li><span>“Roll-up-the-sleeves” mentality to execute work tasks as needed.</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>Technical Competencies</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.</span></li><li><span>Experience with Oracle ERP is a plus.</span></li><li><span>Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>Experience</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>5+ years’ experience in Procurement and Strategic Sourcing within a manufacturing environment.</span></li><li><span>Experience working in a global organization, building and optimizing programs across diverse teams and culture.</span></li><li><span>Experience with lean manufacturing in a global operation and leading continuous improvement initiatives.</span></li></ul><p><span><strong>Education</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or related field.&nbsp;</span></li><li><span>Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) is a plus.</span></li><li><span>ISM certification as CPSM is a plus.</span></li></ul>",
