Description

Applies technical experience and expertise to build/assemble test fixtures, troubleshoot electronics equipment including test fixtures and PCBAs, document and report processes, perform design verification and validation from test plans, and provide support during the design process. This person will support the embedded design and embedded operations solutions team to enable continued growth of increasingly complex electromechanical locks. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily: Build/assemble test fixtures based off schematic diagrams and documentation. This includes electrical wiring, physical mounting of modules/components, creation of engineering support wiring harnesses, and similar tasks. Demonstrate proficiency in electronics including reading schematics. Experience with opening designs in Altium is preferred. Support electrical production lines including troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis of electrical components/assemblies. Perform design verification and validation tests from a provided test plan. The ability to document success/failure is essential to effective completion. Ability to use standard test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, etc.). Document test procedures and laboratory processes to maintain test accuracy and repeatability. Demonstrate proficiency in mechanical fixturing to support test functions on electromechanical products. Requires the ability to troubleshoot and test mechanical actuation solutions as part of test. Ability to solder at advanced level including leadless packages. Rework of prototypes/designs is a core function. Strong computer skills. Various test tools, including command line tools, are regularly updated including internally created tools. The ability to install and use such tools will be an essential function to support testing of prototypes and some production lines. Individuals who need reasonable accommodations to enable them to perform these essential functions should discuss their needs with Human Resources.  EMS will provide reasonable accommodations to such individuals unless doing so would impose an undue hardship on EMS or the individual is a direct threat. Supervisory Responsibilities This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position. Education and/or Experience : Associate or bachelor’s degree in related technology preferred with 5+ years of related experience and/or training required. Familiarity with production line test automation preferred. Computer Skills Proficiency using EDA tools to read schematics for PCBA troubleshooting/repair Proficiency in MS Office LabVIEW or python development experience is a plus Language Ability For business and safety reasons, ability to write reports and business correspondence in English and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, technicians, and assemblers in English. Quality Commitment Assist the organization with establishing practices that align with ISO requirements. Other Skills Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Strong experience in electronic instrumentation and testing tools. Strong experience in defining validation and test planning documents. Mathematical Ability Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to electrical engineering problems Reasoning Ability Ability to apply principles of logic or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with non-verbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.  While performing the functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, stoop and kneel; use hands, reach with hands and arms; communicate clearly and effectively.  The employee may also be frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds.
