Job Description:
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive Social Work services for the Women's and Children's Program – primarily in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with inpatient cross coverage/support as needed to Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Birthing Suites. The Social Worker is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team and is required to have flexibility to address urgent care as the need arises and be able to provide in-depth psychosocial assessments, and treatment to families of critically ill babies.
Qualifications:
THP is committed to internal talent, and therefore priority will be given to internal applicants.
MSW and Registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service workers - required 2 - 3 years of experience within Women's and Children's areas Competency in completing psychosocial assessments and developing/implementing a plan of intervention which addresses coping and adjustment to the NICU admission Demonstrates experience with child welfare, issues of assault and abuse, mental health, substance abuse, and diversity Experience in providing support to parents with post-partum depression/anxiety and/or grief and loss. Flexibility with the management of cases and planning i.e. surrogacy, adoption etc. Excellent assessment, counseling, and problem-solving skills Demonstrates ability to work well both autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team Strong interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written) Strong leadership skills Excellent project management abilities Demonstrates ability to work effectively under pressure Superior ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong clinical skills Demonstrated facilitation and consensus-building skills
