Description Organizational Summary: The USF Health Taneja College of Pharmacy is managed by the Dean and an actively engaged administrative leadership team. The mission of the college is to Transform Health through educating students to be outstanding and successful practitioners and leaders in the profession; through leading in discovery and innovation of education and practice in pharmacy; and through delivering the highest quality care in diverse, interprofessional clinical and community settings. Job Summary: Applicant will be assigned to work on research areas of heart diseases in Dr. Tipparaju lab at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Dr. Tipparaju’s research lab is studying heart failure, MI, skeletal muscle disease and evaluating gene/drug/nanoparticle-based therapeutics using cell culture, organoids and animal models. Responsibilities Conducts research work using ex vivo Langendorff setup. Perform I/R protocols, collect perfusate, measure biochemical markers, TTC stain. Analyze the report in a timely manner. Use Image J, Biorender, GraphPad Prism for analysis and preparing the figures. Conducts and modifies laboratory research protocols on biological materials using methods such as mammalian tissue cultures and histology requiring the use of sterile technique, preparing slides using staining techniques, and performing assays for protein (Western blotting), RNA, DNA, or other cellular components. Cares for laboratory animals. Performs standardized experimental protocols and in vivo procedures. May prepare animals for surgery, and care for animals after surgery. Assist in the animal handling, breeding, tissue collection and genotyping. Culture and differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) cell. Maintains laboratory equipment, arranges for repair as necessary, orders and inventories laboratory supplies. Calibrates instruments and prepares laboratory equipment for use. Keeps records of the conduct and outcome of laboratory analyses. Maintains project data bases. Prepares graphs, graphs, charts, and tables from experimental results for inclusion in presentations, publications, and grant applications. Trains undergraduate students in laboratory methods. Performs literature searches for appropriate laboratory techniques and subject of research. Performs other duties as assigned. May be available in the weekends (if needed) to change culture medium for stem cells and taking care of animals. Attend lab meetings and present data to PI and lab members. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.
