    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Join an amazing team that is consistently recognized for our achievements and culture, including our most recent Forbes award of being one of America's Best Midsize Employers for 2026!</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary:</strong>The Property Mid Loss Adjuster applies broad knowledge of current Company policy, applicable regulatory standards and procedural changes to investigate, evaluate and settle moderate to complex Homeowner's property claims in a timely and efficient manner as to prevent unnecessary expense to the Company and policyholders, and provide exceptional service to our customers. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Geo-Salary Information</h2>\n<p><strong><em>An in-person interview may be required during the hiring process</em></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>In CA: Typical hiring range is $110,468 to $135,016</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Essential Job Functions:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Investigate moderate to complex Homeowners claims to confirm facts, origin and cause of loss.</li>\n <li>Address and handle ALL exposures of the claim, including Dwelling, Other Structures, Contents, Loss of Use. Investigations may include scene inspection, recorded interviews with policyholders or other witnesses, or use of appropriate experts.</li>\n <li>Compare facts gathered during the investigation against policy to determine coverage of claim, extend or deny coverage as appropriate</li>\n <li>Inspect and determine extent of damages, and document with photographs, measurements, repair estimate, and thorough log notes.</li>\n <li>Establish reserve amounts within prescribed settlement authority limit and negotiates settlement of claims; recommends claims which exceed personal authority limit to supervisor for approval.</li>\n <li>Maintain claims on a regular diary to monitor unresolved issues and exposures. Regularly monitor progress and expense of ongoing claims.</li>\n <li>Throughout entire claim handling process, ensure exceptional service is provided to customers. This includes timely response to phone calls, emails, written communication, and adherence to Department of Insurance requirements.</li>\n <li>Directs, monitors, and reviews files handled by independent adjusters to conclusion. </li>\n <li>Assists in training property personnel.</li>\n <li>Other functions may be assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>4 - 8 years of equivalent industry experience is preferred.</li>\n <li>Custodial use of a Company vehicle is provided; must meet established Company standards regarding personal driving history and current license status to be eligible for this position.</li>\n <li>This is a home-based field position and requires travel of up to 50% of work time. Some ling in-state distance travel may be required. The successful candidate must meet established Company standards regarding personal driving history and have current driver's license to be eligible for position. </li>\n <li>This opening is for coverage primarily in {location}. Some non-field claims in remote areas may also be assigned</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge and Skills:</strong></p>\n<p>Minimum:</p>\n<p>I can succeed as a Property Mid Loss Adjuster with:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>A good working knowledge of office & business computer applications.</li>\n <li>Proficient mathematical skills to compute cost of damage and repair.</li>\n <li>Ability to perform field inspections at least 50% of work time (company car provided).</li>\n <li>Ability to use advanced video technology to collaborate with onsite vendors and insureds to identify damage and write a damage estiate from a virtual setting when needed.</li>\n <li>Technical knowledge of and proficiency in property evaluation, estimation, and Xactimate.</li>\n <li>A good working knowledge of construction nomenclature and procedures.</li>\n <li>Written and verbal communication skills to effectively and professionally interact with internal and external customers, vendors and other third parties.</li>\n <li>Ability to adhere to established Company policies and procedures within claims operations.</li>\n <li>Critical attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.</li>\n <li>Analytical ability necessary to analyze, interpret and evaluate relevant information.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Other skills and competencies</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Customer Focus: - Is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers</li>\n <li>Decision Quality: - Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment</li>\n <li>Interpersonal Savvy: - Builds constructive and effective relationships</li>\n <li>Composure: - Is not knocked off balance by the unexpected.  - Is cool under pressure.</li>\n <li>Listening: - Practices attentive and active listening</li>\n <li>Time Management: - Ability to use time effectively and efficiently</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>About the Company</h2>\n<p><strong><em>Why choose a career at Mercury?</em></strong></p>\n<p>At Mercury, we have been guided by our purpose to help people reduce risk and overcome unexpected events for more than 60 years.
