We are especially interested in and give preference to candidates who demonstrate a vision to create and nurture initiatives that will advance our mission within the scope of their duties and who will foster a culture of dialogue that, with respect for all people, supports the search for meaning and purpose in pursuit of excellence.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Salary: $18.75/hr</p>\n<p><strong>Main Duties & Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Advise students on how to access the student portal and promote online service.</li>\n <li>Advise students and families on the FAFSA process and assist in resolving issues.</li>\n <li>Assist students and families in understanding their financial awards, financial planning for educational expenses, tuition accounts, and payment options.</li>\n <li>Help manage all aspects of communication with students.</li>\n <li>Serve as liaison with other university offices.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Experience and Education Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School Diploma or GED Required</li>\n <li>Bachelor's or Associate's Degree preferred.</li>\n <li>Previous customer service experience required.</li>\n <li>Prior work experience in higher education and student services preferred. </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Essential Knowledge & Skills</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>A demonstrated commitment to customer service.</li>\n <li>Excellent communication and listening skills.</li>\n <li>Strong organizational and planning skills.</li>\n <li>Effective writing and editing skills.</li>\n <li>Strong computer skills.</li>\n <li>Ability to navigate and understand an electronic Student Information System.</li>\n <li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team-oriented environment.</li>\n <li>Ability to relate to diverse populations.</li>\n <li>Ability to translate financial information into understandable language for students and families. </li>\n <li>Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to work changes. </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Sedentary work.</strong> Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.</li>\n <li><strong>Light work.</strong> Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be very little, a job is in this category when it requires a good deal of walking or standing, or when it involves sitting most of the time with some pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
