    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<em>Shermco Industries is seeking a Protection and Control Technician.</em> \n<strong><u>Protection and Controls (P&C) Technician</u></strong>\n<strong>Why Shermco:</strong>\n<ul>\n <li>Industry leading overtime program - rate structure which pays lucratively</li>\n <li>Robust benefits package for employees and family which includes dental, vision, disability insurance, and medical insurance as low as $1 per week</li>\n <li>Retirement and savings programs with company match (401k and health savings account)</li>\n <li>Eligibility for annual performance and pay reviews</li>\n <li>Eligibility for various bonus / incentive programs</li>\n <li>Shermco invests in employees by offering technical training (full scale internal workforce development program) and leadership training and career tracks</li>\n <li>Tuition reimbursement program</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<strong><u>Job Responsibilities and Expectations:</u></strong>\n<ul>\n <li>Installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of protective relay equipment, powerline carrier equipment, digital fault recorders (DFR’s), remote terminal units (RTU’s), and communication processors.</li>\n <li>Functional testing for protection and control circuitry associated with transmission lines, HV bus, transformer, circuit breaker, feeder, reactors, and capacitor banks.</li>\n <li>RTU and telecom upgrades for various clients</li>\n <li>Experienced with SEL microprocessor relays such as 311C, 311L, 387, 411L, 421, 487B, 487E, 487V, 587, 587Z, and 787. </li>\n <li>Desired experienced with GE microprocessor relays such as C30, D60, F35, L90, T35 and T60.</li>\n <li>Required experienced with various RTU’s and communication processors such as GE, Telvent, SEL, Cooper, and Novatech.</li>\n <li>Accurately reviewing, documenting, and submitting test reports used for client reporting and regulatory purposes.</li>\n <li>Interpret one line, three line, wiring, schematic diagrams, communication configurations with ability to recognize and bring attention to discrepancies.</li>\n <li>Accurately completes time and expense reports along with maintaining good condition of assigned company vehicle.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<strong><u>Required Education/Experience:</u></strong>\n<ul>\n <li>Ideal candidate will have 5+ years experience in the electrical testing industry with a focus working with protection and control equipment, RTU’s, and telecom with HV utility, co-op, power generation, federal, or municipal clients. </li>\n <li>Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Technology in similar discipline, or Technical school diploma, or military experience in either Army Prime Power or Navy Nuclear electrical program.</li>\n <li>Experience with transmission and distribution relays to include SEL, GE, ABB, and Westinghouse.  </li>\n <li>Experience with substation RTU’s, communication processors, and telecom equipment for both brownfield and greenfield projects.</li>\n <li>Experienced with scoping, scheduling, and budgeting process for protection and control, RTU, and telecom projects for both internal and external entities. </li>\n <li>Experience with project management of protection and control teams working in HV substations for utility clients.</li>\n <li>Familiar with NERC CIP requirements.</li>\n</ul> \n<strong><u>Requirements:</u></strong>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, drive regularly, with or without reasonable accommodations</li>\n <li>Should be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam when required</li>\n <li>Pass pre-employment drug test, and periodic unannounced drug tests</li>\n <li>Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check with 7 year history</li>\n <li>Have a valid drivers license and meet minimum motor vehicle insurability standards</li>\n <li>Take and pass 30 hour OSHA training</li>\n <li>Ability to work in a field environment subject to changing outdoor conditions</li>\n <li>Work overtime as needed and willingness to travel extensively to client work locations</li>\n <li>Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.</li>\n</ul>\n<strong></strong>EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER | DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE \n<em>Shermco is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
