    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>THE ROLE:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The First Shift Chemist I will work onsite at our state of art Innovation and Manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, NC. Will perform chemical and physical analysis of inner and outer nutritional products in the quality control lab using wet chemistry techniques and instrumental analyses.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Performs laboratory testing (qualitative and quantitative chemical and physical analysis of raw materials, finished products and/or stability samples).</li>\n <li>Review/peer review of testing results in laboratory notebooks and in LIMs.</li>\n <li>Prepares standards and reagents; calibrates and operates sophisticated laboratory instrumentation such as HPLC, FTIR, UV- Visible spectrophotometer.</li>\n <li>Reviews product certificates of analysis for accuracy and conformance and maintain C of A files.</li>\n <li>Performs routine calibration and performance verification of lab equipment and instrumentation.</li>\n <li>Provides input on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Test Methods and other relevant laboratory documents.</li>\n <li>Participates in investigations, address Out of Specifications (OOS), resolve deviations and implement CAPA with general supervision.</li>\n <li>Follows current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Documents data in lab notebook and follow basic cGMP guidelines.</li>\n <li>Interprets test results and compares with determined standards and limits. Interprets and compares data and records and trend verification under general supervision.</li>\n <li>Maintains a safe, clean and efficient laboratory.</li>\n <li>Chemist I is responsible to produce high quality laboratory data and  empowered to stop an analysis that may produce poor quality results as required by ISO 17025.Other duties as assigned by management.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>None</p>\n<h2>Job Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Skills:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li> Ability to implement testing according to established methods.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates basic proficiency in lab instrumentation and multiple test methods.</li>\n <li>Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under general supervision</li>\n <li>Ability to organize workload for effective implementation</li>\n <li>Strong customer and results orientation</li>\n <li>Ability to interact effectively at all levels with sensitivity to cultural diversity</li>\n <li>Ability to function as an effective team member</li>\n <li>Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Experience:</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>0 – 3 years previous experience in an analytical laboratory of qualitative or quantitative analyses</li>\n <li>Experience in wet chemical analysis and/or instrumental analysis - using FTIR, HPLC, GC and UV-Visible spectrophotometry</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Education:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>  Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field or equivalent experience. </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Skills:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>  Knowledge of LC/MS and GC/MS</li>\n <li> Previous cGMP regulation and compliance experience</li>\n <li>  Nutraceutical or pharmaceutical laboratory experience</li>\n <li> Knowledge in ISO17025 Lab Management</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Education:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li> Master of Science in Chemistry or Biochemistry or related filed </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: </strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>In general, the following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
