This role owns mechanical design deliverables, collaborates cross-functionally with manufacturing and customers, and ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to applicable quality and safety standards.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong><u>WHAT YOU’LL DO</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Design and develop automation products and capital equipment using 3D CAD software</li>\n <li>Own mechanical design from concept through production release</li>\n <li>Perform detailed engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design validation</li>\n <li>Select components and manage bills of materials (BOMs)</li>\n <li>Apply design-for-manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), lean principles, and cost-conscious design practices</li>\n <li>Create detailed drawings and coordinate with internal and external machine shops to fabricate custom machine parts, weldments, and sheet metal components</li>\n <li>Work with technician teams to assemble and commission new equipment</li>\n <li>Validate equipment performance and reliability. Create comprehensive equipment handover packages and system documentation</li>\n <li>Provide technical support to production, service, and field teams to resolve equipment or operational issues</li>\n <li>Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, planning, quality, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and achieve project goals</li>\n <li>Maintain ownership of engineering processes, workflows, and design standards</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><em>Education:</em> Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks) and PDM (Vault)</li>\n <li><em>Experience:</em>Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design of electro-mechanical products, automation systems, or capital equipment</li>\n <li><em>Skills:</em> Strong knowledge of machine design and fabrication methods including sheet metal, welding, and machining</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of machinery safety standards and guarding requirements</li>\n <li>Experience with component selection, BOM management, and engineering change control</li>\n <li>Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office</li>\n <li>Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills</li>\n <li>Proven successful experience multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment</li>\n <li>Experience with motion control systems, actuators, and automation components</li>\n <li>Experience with industrial robot arms (Fanuc preferred)</li>\n <li>Experience with end of arm tooling</li>\n <li><em>Travel:</em> Up to 20%</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Office and plant environment.</li>\n <li>Keyboarding, lifting, standing, bending, walking.</li>\n <li>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>ABOUT GREAT DANE</u></strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>With a history dating back to 1900, Great Dane has established itself as a transportation solutions leader of today – delivering innovative products and exceptional services that help our customers and employees succeed.
