Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the assigned area safety, uptime, quality, waste, rate, and cost performance of the asset. Responsible for leading and directing assigned team members to perform their assigned job duties, adhere to expectations, and execution of JSAs, SOPS, 6S, and systems. JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk. Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks. Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management) Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible. Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals. Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed. Understand and fully utilize all ISO procedures, control charts, histograms, CpK, and other SPC tools and measurements; recommend improvements based on statistical data and observation. Develop, implement and maintain operational procedures and controls to ensure product meets customer required and recognized quality standards. Prepare and analyze reports and make recommendations for improvements Coordinate, review and communicate customer specifications/changes. Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives for the Safety, Quality, Logistics, Process, and Operations teams. Understand and help positively communicate changes in business situations, production schedules, and company policies. Responsible for presenting asset results in meetings. This includes being able to explain what happened to drive downtime, waste, quality, rate, and other occurrences as well as how to prevent these occurrences in the future. Responsible for the accurate completion of all paperwork and data entry including but not limited to production and downtime reports, incident reports and the distribution of specifications. Responsible for safety, product, process, and compliance audits; training of new team members; and team member certifications and re-certifications. Communicate effectively with internal customers as well as peers and to solve problems and enhance capabilities of the team Ensure required information is disseminated to the team through effective communication meetings, postings and other methods as needed. Provide the Shift Supervisor with relevant information and data for performance reviews, conflict resolution, training and development, and potential challenges or opportunities as identified. Assist operators and coordinate trouble-shooting activities. Refer to the Process Engineer for root-cause solutions to recurring problems. Train others as needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Technical degree or Associate Degree preferred Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred OSHA 30 hour preferred 3-5 years related experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience using Personal computers with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Windows, and Word. Supervisory experience preferred Competencies: Team Oriented and Interpersonal Skills – Has the ability to work effectively and cohesively with other plant employees or external groups to achieve required objectives and goals. Leadership – Has strong personal accountability to achieve goals and develops this accountability in others by giving candid and constructive feedback. Initiative – Has the ability to identify key plant issues, develop a workable solution from data and working with others, sells his/her solution and implements the solution. Credibility – Does not blame others and takes responsibility for his/her own mistakes. Respects confidential information and concerns shared by others. Finishes work and reports on time and effectively utilizes data to support positions. Continuous Improvement – Has a high level of self-management and motivation to continuously improve the process, people, equipment, raw materials and self. Can adapt and transfer new methods and ideas to situations to maximize positive results . Communication – Presents ideas/facts clearly and concisely in oral and written formats. Listens well and asks the right questions. Can effectively communication to customers, operators, or management. Results Oriented –Takes corrective action, anticipates issues and sets contingency plans. Analytical Problem Solving – Can determine what data is relevant; recognizes inconsistencies and draws inferences from data to develop solutions and options PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical demands: Employee must have 20/20 vision corrected in both eyes, to discern various color graphics and color matches. Employee must be able to work rotating 12 hour shifts. Employee must be qualified to operate powered industrial trucks and pass Forklift License Program. Employee must be able to climb, bend, stoop and crawl. Employee must be able to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly and 50 pounds occasionally Required to frequently ascend and descend up to three flights of stairs over extremely fast moving machinery. Required to safely access fast moving machinery which includes rolls with inward nip points. Work Environment: Area may or may not be air conditioned or heated, and may be humid and hot or cold depending on seasonal conditions. Exposure to hot and/or abrasive surfaces. Required to be in tight spaces on occasion and to heights daily. Possible exposure to noise levels over 90 decibels for 12 hours at certain locations. Moving machinery or moving objects on production floor. Floor surfaces slippery at times. Exposure to chemicals which may cause eye or skin irritation and/or burns, and irritation to respiratory system. Exposure to static electricity on occasion. Exposure to and use of sharp implements at times. Exposure to outside elements on occasion. Mental Abilities Ability to make decisions regarding work priorities. Ability to read charts and document numbers and events on paper and in computer. Ability to read electrical indicators and laboratory equipment indicators.
