FCMS is at the forefront of designing and integrating mission systems onto new construction and post-delivery ships, playing a critical role in advancing the United States Navy's surface warfare capabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to lead engineering efforts across a dynamic portfolio that spans surface ship construction, fleet introduction, sustainment, modernization, and cutting-edge unmanned systems integration.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>About Future Combatants and Mission Systems (FCMS)</p>\n<p>Our Future Combatants and Mission Systems team specializes in a broad range of mission-critical programs, including:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Surface Ship Construction & Fleet Introduction</li>\n <li>Surface Ship Sustainment & Modernization</li>\n <li>Unmanned Ship System Integration & Test</li>\n <li>Alteration Installation & Test (AIT) Execution</li>\n <li>Combat Systems Engineering Agent (CSEA)</li>\n <li>LCS Mission Module Design, Sustainment & Modernization</li>\n <li>LCS Integrated Trainers</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Deputy Program Manager, Engineering (DPME) serves as a key leader responsible for overseeing engineering projects from inception through delivery. In this role, you will ensure high-quality deliverables, foster cross-functional collaboration, and maintain the integrity of project schedules and budgets. You will be a critical driver of technical excellence, risk management, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.</p>\n<p>Key Responsibilities</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Conduct lessons learned reviews after each major project phase to drive continuous improvement</li>\n <li>Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering plans aligned with project requirements</li>\n <li>Ensure all project deliverables — including documentation — are developed with high quality and delivered on schedule</li>\n <li>Ensure all engineering processes adhere to established engineering practices and standards</li>\n <li>Validate that total system requirements are properly defined and verified</li>\n <li>Oversee the integration, testing, and verification of total systems</li>\n <li>Identify, develop, analyze, and report engineering project performance measures</li>\n <li>Implement effective corrective actions to address technical and programmatic issues</li>\n <li>Drive risk identification and mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle</li>\n <li>Lead project change management efforts to maintain scope, schedule, and budget control</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Technical & Analytical:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Highly proficient problem-solving skills in complex, multi-disciplinary environments</li>\n <li>Highly proficient ability to apply or develop advanced technologies, principles, theories, and concepts</li>\n <li>Expertise in project management, including various project life cycles such as Agile</li>\n <li>Highly proficient understanding and application of project leadership principles, including SPI/CPI, Earned Value Management (EVM), Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls</li>\n <li>Ability to anticipate technology, process, and skill needs to support program growth</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Leadership & Communication:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to lead, motivate teams, and effectively resolve conflicts</li>\n <li>Highly proficient communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex project topics to diverse audiences</li>\n <li>Ability to handle negotiations and manage interpersonal dynamics effectively</li>\n <li>Proven organizational and time management skills</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Tools & Processes:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Fully proficient understanding of company policies, practices, and engineering processes</li>\n <li>Identifies and applies AI-driven opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>#LI-Hybrid</p>\n<h2>Salary Note</h2>This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
