Team Lead – Powder Coating (Second Shift)

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and reliable Team Lead to oversee daily powder coating operations and ensure high-quality finishing standards. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to train and guide team members in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reports To: Operations Manager Salary Range: CAD $33–$35/hour plus shift premium Please note that this position requires 100% on-site work, and the shift timing is from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM. Key Responsibilities: Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the powder coating team. Set up, operate, and maintain powder coating equipment, spray guns, and curing ovens. Oversee the full pretreatment process, including cleaning, degreasing, rinsing, and chemical application to ensure proper surface preparation. Monitor pretreatment equipment (wash system, tanks, pumps, chemical levels) and ensure all stages meet required specifications. Perform and document titrations, pH checks, devise calibration and other pretreatment quality tests. Ensure parts are properly dried and prepared before coating to prevent defects. Ensure proper surface preparation, coating thickness, and finish quality according to specifications Inspect completed parts for defects, consistency, and adherence to quality standards. Monitor production schedules and ensure timely completion of work orders. Train new and existing employees on powder coating processes, safety procedures, and equipment use. Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate maintenance when required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Document production data, quality checks, and material usage. Collaborate with supervisors and other departments to improve workflow and efficiency. Qualifications: Minimum 2–5 years of experience in powder coating or industrial finishing. Previous leadership or lead‑hand experience preferred. Strong understanding of powder coating materials, equipment, and curing processes. Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, and specifications. Knowledge of quality control standards and inspection techniques Strong communication and team‑leadership skills. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a manufacturing environment. Commitment to safety and continuous improvement. Preferred Skills Experience with automated powder coating systems. Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain). Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment adjustments and troubleshooting.
