Assistant Registrar, Academic Status and Policy COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Expected Pay Rate: $23.00 - $25.48 hourly (Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.) Some evening or weekend hours may be required during peak academic periods such as Commencement, Convocation, and registration cycles. ABOUT THE ROLE The Assistant Registrar is a professional-level role within the Registrar's Office responsible for contributing to the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of the student record across the full academic lifecycle. Assistant Registrars serve as both generalist contributors to shared office responsibilities and functional leads in one of three specialized areas: Academic Status & Policy, Audits & Data, or Student Transitions & Curricula. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, collaborative spirit, and a genuine commitment to student success and institutional integrity. WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS The Registrar's Office contributes to the University's mission by safeguarding the accuracy and integrity of the student record. We serve as a central resource in navigating and implementing curricular requirements and academic policies. In doing so, we seek to provide clarity for students and various levels of the University community, and to partner with them in supporting and refining academic and student-centered processes. WHAT YOU WILL DO All Assistant Registrars, regardless of functional area, share responsibility for the following: Maintain and administer student records with a commitment to privacy, accuracy, and FERPA compliance, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of academic activity from enrollment through degree conferral. Serve as a knowledgeable resource for students, faculty, programs, and administrators via email, phone, and in-person interactions Interpret and apply academic policies and curricular requirements, including prerequisites and modified schedules Contribute to team-wide projects Commencement, Convocation, and semester lifecycle workflows Improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and better serve students Complete ongoing training and professional development in Registrar's Office policies, procedures, and best practices, with particular emphasis on FERPA and industry standards Identify, communicate, and help resolve errors when they occur Functional Area Responsibilities Academic Status & Policy Reports to: Academic Policy, Compliance & Scheduling Manager Functional Responsibilities: Assist in maintaining and updating academic policies, including contributions to the University Handbook Assist with on-site and classroom scheduling processes Support academic appeals and integrity violation processes, including: Compiling documentation and coordinating review processes Drafting correspondence and response letters Coordinating Academic Appeals Committee documentation and attending committee meetings as a non-voting resource Assist with academic status determinations and record updates, and communicate status changes, requirements, and next steps to students in a timely and sensitive manner Assist with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) review processes and record updates, and coordinate with the Financial Aid Office as appropriate WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required 1–3 years of experience in higher education, preferably in a Registrar's Office or related academic affairs role. Familiarity with FERPA and student records regulations Strong written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems Preferred Qualifications Experience in one or more of the functional areas described above Familiarity with degree audit systems, LMS platforms, or SIS environments Experience with academic policy administration, appeals processes, or curriculum management Knowledge of transfer credit evaluation or Credit for Prior Learning frameworks Competencies Attention to Detail Accurately manages records, processes, and documentation with precision Confidentiality Handles student information with discretion in full compliance with FERPA Communication Clearly conveys information to diverse audiences including students, faculty, and administrators Collaboration Works effectively across teams and departments without siloing information or effort Accountability Takes ownership of work, communicates proactively, and focuses on solutions Adaptability Manages multiple priorities and shifting deadlines across a dynamic academic calendar ABOUT ROCKY MOUNTAIN UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions (RMU) is a graduate‑level institution dedicated to advancing healthcare education, research, and service.
