The Center is one of a handful of Federally Qualified Health Centers in the nation specializing in serving LGBTQ people.</p><p>JOB SUMMARY: &nbsp;This physician will provide comprehensive, trauma-informed, and culturally competent medical care to LGBT individuals throughout the adult lifespan. &nbsp;The physician&rsquo;s panel of patients will reflect the diversity of LGBT community and include individuals of all genders and expressions and with varying levels of medical and psychosocial complexity, including those living with HIV. This physician will also be expected to provide episodic care for non-panel patients as needed.&nbsp;</p><p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Provide comprehensive medical care to a panel of patients including primary care, chronic disease management, sexual and reproductive health care, and gender affirming services.&nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Provide ongoing management to adults living with HIV including: diagnosing acute HIV infection; initiation and modification of appropriate antiretroviral therapy; prevention and treatment of acute opportunistic infections; monitoring clinical and immunological status; routine preventative health screenings unique to HIV patients.&nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Conducts clinical encounters with new, return, and cross-coverage patients including taking an HPI (history of present illness); completing physical exams; documenting medical, social, family history; ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting results; developing differential diagnoses; and establishing and documenting plans of care.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Uses clinical judgment to assess the need for specialist assessment and places referrals accordingly. Conducts telephone consultations with specialists as needed. Reviews specialists&rsquo; notes, incorporating findings and recommendations into the overall management of the patient. &nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Demonstrates chart maintenance by keeping patient problem lists up-to-date and reconciling medications.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Follows practice documentation standards regarding clinic notes and clinically relevant lab results and imaging reports.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Completes and &ldquo;signs-off&rdquo; on clinical notes, lab results, refill requests, imaging reports, and consults within a timely manner.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Responds to messages from patients and care team members in a timely manner.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Provides evidence-based care that is in accordance with national standards and internal practice guidelines.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Participates in peer review exercises and completes mandatory clinical trainings.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Liaisons with other members of the clinical care team including nursing, social work and mental health to optimize patient &nbsp;health outcomes. &nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Provides cross- coverage for the other medical providers in cases of vacations, conferences, and illness, and overflow. &nbsp;This includes review of other providers&rsquo; lab results, portal messages and medication refill requests.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Participates in the clinic&rsquo;s on-call system. &nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Responsible for maintenance of their own Continuing Medical Education (CME) in order to keep current with relevant Board Certification and for AAHIVM certification; &nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Attends staff and other meetings as assigned.&nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Other duties as assigned;</p><p>JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Knowledge of or experience working with the LGBTQ community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBTQ people.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>A passion for the Center&rsquo;s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBTQ people.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong organizational, detail and interpersonal skills.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Board Certified in either Family Medicine, General Internal Medicine or Infectious Diseases.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>A valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Registered by the Drug Enforcement Administration and BLS certification required.&nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Commitment to providing medical care that is trauma-informed, sex and body positive, and rooted in the tenets of harm reduction.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>AAHIVM certification or ability to become AAHIVM certified within 6 months of employment&nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Strong sexual and reproductive health experience including expertise in STD diagnosis and treatment, PEP/PrEP, gender affirming hormone therapy and contraception management, preferred.&nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Ability to conduct medical visits in Spanish, preferred.</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Understanding of the intersectional issues impacting LGBTQ people including the ways that racism, sexism, transphobia and income inequality impacts health access and outcomes.&nbsp;</p><p>&bull;<span style=\"white-space:pre;\">&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</span>Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural environment.</p><p id=\"isPasted\">The Los Angeles LGBT Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to fostering diversity within its staff.
