The listed wage reflects the entry-level rate for this position. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and qualifications.
The Redding Rancheria is seeking an ECE Teacher Assistant. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM.
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist ECE Teachers with the supervision of classroom and playground activities and field trips. Help plan, organize and deliver age appropriate learning activities. Major emphasis is on developmentally appropriate practices, safety and positive classroom management.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Assist in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum that advances all areas of children's learning and development, including social, emotional, intellectual, and physical competence. Assist in preparing weekly lesson plans, noting goals and objectives. Assist in observations of individual children in the group setting; refer to the Staff Team any children with special needs such as developmental delay or disability, speech impairments, attention deficit disorder, inappropriate anger, etc. Support the development and learning of individual children, recognizing that children are best understood in the context of family, culture, and society; include weekly Native American cultural activities in weekly curriculum. Assist in maintaining required records such as: attendance records, meal counts, weekly lesson plans, child observations and corresponding individualization’s, etc Cultivate and maintain a positive professional working relationship with parents, other family members and/or childcare givers. Encourage and facilitate regular two-way communication. Attends workshops and training events as assigned. Establish and maintain a safe and healthy environment for children. Respond proactively to children’s absences and/or account for children at all times. Understands and implements safety rules, emergency procedures, and established policies, etc. As mandated, identify and report suspected child abuse to proper authorities following established guidelines. Ensures safety of children at all times. Assist in parent orientation as is relates to classroom schedule, classroom management and forms of discipline. Monitor children on the bus during transportation. Follows the Code of Ethical Conduct as established by the NAEYC. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Serves as a substitute in other classrooms (Head Start and Child Care) depending on enrollment and staffing needs. Creates and maintains an attractive, safe learning environment. Works with others to cooperatively share space and supplies. Attends regular staff meetings and cooperates in planning, developing and implementation of program changes and/ or modifications. Shares information pertinent to each child’s development and to the smooth operations of the program Participates in parent meetings, fundraisers, social functions, special events, etc. Attend local meetings and conferences of professional organizations appropriate for preschool educator. Schedule and arrange visits to other area preschool or Head Start programs at least twice per school year. Assists in the coaching of new classroom assistants. Plans meaningful and appropriate activities for assistants to supervise and/or deliver. Immediately reports to Program Manager any unsafe or disruptive behavior of any staff member or volunteer.
