    "description": "<h2> Overview</h2>\n<p>Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job): </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>INDIVIDUALS WISHING TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION MUST COMPLETE THE CIVIL SERVICE LABOR SERVICE REGISTRATION PROCESS FOR THE POSITION AT <strong>https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/massachusetts</strong> IN ADDITION TO COMPLETING THE CITY OF BOSTON CAREER CENTER APPLICATION.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Under general supervision, operates and has responsibility for one of a wide variety of heavy motor equipment not requiring a special license (other than a Commercial Driver's License) or unusual skill, such as dump trucks, street sweepers, snow plows, sanders, etc.</p>\n<h2> Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Operate light and heavy motorized and hydraulic equipment such as heavy trucks, front-end loaders, backhoes, tractors, sweepers, pavers, rollers, bucket trucks, and other equipment.</li>\n <li>Perform some routine and skilled laboring duties at intermediate levels.</li>\n <li>Prepare routine records, logs, and reports.</li>\n <li>Respond to daily inquiries, requests, and complaints from residents, contractors, etc.</li>\n <li>Operate snow plowing, removal, sanding, and salting equipment.</li>\n <li>Maintain work areas in a clean, safe, and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations.</li>\n <li>Respond to and handle Constituent Relationship Management cases.</li>\n <li>May use mobile technology to communicate with supervisors and inspectors regarding Constituent Relationship Management cases.</li>\n <li>Support other Public Works Divisions as requested.</li>\n <li>Perform related work as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Required to work all emergencies as directed by the Commissioner.</p>\n<h2> Minimum Entrance Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Must possess any and all licenses required by the Mass. Dept. of Public Safety to operate any heavy motor equipment, including a valid Massachusetts Commercial Driver's License (CDL).</li>\n <li>Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job.</li>\n <li>Applicants must be available to work any assigned shift in any assigned area.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>BOSTON RESIDENCY REQUIRED</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Terms:</strong></p>\n<p>Union/Salary Plan/Grade: AFSCME RA1-13</p>\n<p>Hours per week: 40</p>",
