Date: May 21, 2026 Title: Admissions Counselor Description: Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor will be involved in all aspects of the general admission process: managing a recruitment territory, traveling & representing Hartwick at recruitment events, meeting with prospective students and their families, reviewing applications, and other duties as assigned. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to relate to a broad range of constituents (students, parents, alumni, high school counselors, etc.), an appreciation for and sensitivity to a variety of backgrounds and traditions from which students may come, and the ability to work well both independently and collaboratively. Responsibilities: Traveling within a defined territory to visit high schools, attend college fairs and conferences. Reading and evaluating applications and participating in the selection of candidates for admission. Interviewing prospective candidates on and off-campus. Conducting information sessions. Answering admission inquiries from prospective students, parents, high school counselors, and others. Outreach in all formats (in-person and via phone, text, email, and mail) to steward prospective students through the admissions funnel Building and maintaining relationships with high schools and community-based organizations. Supporting day-to-day admission processes. Participation in major Admissions events such as Open Houses, Accepted Student Day, and Discovery Day Programs. Participation in major campus events, including Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend. Other duties as assigned. Expected to comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational regulations. As a representative of the College, expected to comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus. Qualifications: Minimum requirements for the position are a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.  Clean driving record and a valid driver's license at time employment commences.  Willingness to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.  Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely. The ability to formulate a sound decision using the available information. Ability to effectively present information publicly. Technical expertise including familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).  Must be adept with social media.  Must have a willingness to learn new software. Required to conduct multiple visits to off site locations on any single day.  The amount of driving equals 3000 to 6000 miles per year. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  While conducting territory travel, responsible for moving personal items and promotional materials to college fairs and high school visits. Wage Range: $27.00-$29.00 An independent, residential liberal arts college enrolling approximately 1,100 full-time undergraduates, Hartwick embraces the teacher-scholar model, with teaching excellence as the first priority, and seeks to recruit, retain and promote a diverse workforce. The College features a Liberal Arts in Practice general education curriculum and aspires to “be the best at melding liberal arts education with experiential learning.” Hartwick operates as a community of learners where there is a very real sense of belonging and connection.
