San Antonio Christian School is seeking an experienced and collaborative leader to serve as a Teacher Aide. Located on a beautiful 71-acre campus, SACS is a non-denominational covenant Christian school with small class sizes and quality academics, coupled with a wide range of art and athletic opportunities which provide students with a Christ-centered education while fostering a life of faith and service.
The Teacher Aide’s goal is to support the classroom teacher in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment where students grow academically, spiritually, and personally. This role assists in teaching and guiding students according to their individual needs, abilities, and potential, helping them develop into mature, responsible Christians who bring glory to God. Under the direction of the teacher and school leadership, the Teacher Aide contributes to maintaining a safe, supportive, and Christ-centered classroom that fosters student growth and success.
This person shall be spiritually mature and shall instill a life of Faith, Character, and Academic Excellence in those around them, adhering to SACS Heart of a Lion Core Values.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES/RESPONSIBLITIES

Demonstrate the importance of discernment, discretion, and confidentiality concerning the sharing of information.
Demonstrate emotional stability, objectivity, flexibility, and optimism in dealing with everyday stress and communicating the Gospel of Christ to young people.
Maintain a clean, modest, and tasteful personal appearance that models Christian values and follows school policy.
Supervise daily functioning of the school (morning, lunch, and afternoon duties), extracurricular activities, and school functions as assigned, ensuring accountability and security of funds collected in the classroom.
Participate in orientations, training, meetings, development programs, and activities that support the school's mission and vision, and model good attendance and punctuality.
Knowledgeable and flexibility to maintain students both in a traditional classroom and in an online format. Flexible to work with students both in a traditional classroom setting and online setting.
Able to train and assist students on multiple platforms as needed (Canvas, Microsoft, Teams, and FACTS).
Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
Willing to participate in continuing education opportunities that will increase proficiency and job skills.
JOB DUTIES COMPETENCIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Classroom Support:
Assist in preparing the learning environment, setting up instructional materials, and organizing classroom resources.
Support the teacher in following the prescribed curriculum scope and sequence as scheduled by the principal.
Follow the teacher’s schedule of instruction to ensure students receive the appropriate time and focus for each subject.
Maintain close follow-up with students who are struggling academically or behaviorally, providing additional support as needed.
Assist in taking attendance and keeping necessary records.
Help facilitate the class when a substitute teacher is present in the teacher’s absence.
Student Engagement & Development:
Use knowledge of children’s physical, emotional, and developmental needs to provide appropriate support and care.
Encourage positive social interactions and assist with behavior management in alignment with school policies.
Promote a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered learning environment that supports student growth.
Assist children with toileting and help those who have accidents.
Perform basic first aid and accompany students to the nurse when needed.
Classroom Management & Organization:
Support the teacher in maintaining a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
Assist with general housekeeping tasks, including the care and maintenance of classroom furniture, equipment, and materials.
Ensure instructional time is maximized by helping with transitions, organization, and minimizing distractions.
Biblical Integration & Instructional Support:
Support the teacher in immersing a Biblical worldview into classroom discussions and activities.
Assist in reinforcing lesson objectives, guiding students in independent work, and engaging in classroom discussions that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving.
Help implement structured lesson plans that align with best teaching practices, including student engagement strategies and assessments.
Encourage a supportive, respectful, and Christ-centered classroom culture that promotes learning and personal growth.
Maintain consistency in classroom procedures, reinforcing expectations fairly and positively.
Qualifications
Acknowledge Christ as Lord and Savior. Seek to live life as His disciple. Share the Christian faith with others.
Minimum of bachelor’s degree in teaching subject/field from an accredited college or university.
Experience with Early Ed.
Possess evidence of other adequate preparation, background, or experience as determined by the school administrator.
Possess and maintain state and/or ACSI certification(s) or be willing to obtain the certification(s) as administration deems necessary.
Active member of a local evangelical church that aligns with the school’s essential beliefs, Nicene Creed, and statement of faith.
Highly relational with established record of cultivating strong, appropriate relationships with students/adults.
Strong computer skills with the ability to integrate technology into curriculum to design interactive and engaging lessons. PC proficient with knowledge of standard software.
Effective written and verbal communicator.
Must pass a criminal background check. Have reliable transportation to and from work.
