Description

The Senior Director of Major and Institutional Giving provides strategic leadership and active engagement in Every Home for Christ’s relational fundraising efforts, including major gifts, foundation partnerships, and planned giving. This role leads and develops the Major Gifts Team while personally managing and cultivating a select portfolio of major donor and foundation relationships, ensuring disciplined portfolio management, effective donor engagement strategies, and strong alignment between ministry priorities and philanthropic opportunities. Working closely with the Chief of Staff and the President/CEO, the Senior Director of Major and Institutional Giving cultivates meaningful and long-term partnerships with donors and foundations while equipping gift officers to build strong, mission-aligned relationships that advance the ministry of Every Home for Christ. This role works in close collaboration with the organization’s broader fundraising and marketing teams to ensure strong alignment between relational donor engagement and programmatic fundraising efforts across the ministry. RESPONSIBILITIES Spiritual Leadership Maintains a personal and actively growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Every Home for Christ. Adheres to the Biblical standards of moral conduct, Every Home for Christ vision statement, Every Home for Christ statement of faith, Every Home for Christ’s Employee standards and policies, Every Home for Christ’s Covenant of Harmony and upholds Every Home for Christ’s ministry in prayer. Participates in our Christ-centered community through working in the HQ office and actively demonstrate and lead Every Home cultural values. Responsible for providing discipleship, prayer, and spiritual guidance, in alignment with Every Home for Christ values, to fundraising partners through their journey in understanding the Great Commission and the part they play Convey Every Home for Christ’s religious message and beliefs, including the Every Home for Christ Mission, Vision, and Founding Principles, to partners, major donors, and the community; communicating a biblical vision of stewardship and generosity. Uphold and communicate Every Home for Christ Mission, Vision, and Founding Principles. Lead prayer/devotionals/church services on a regular basis for various partners, individual donors, partner churches and ministries located domestically and internationally Adheres to and leads through the principles outlined in Every Home for Christ’s Fundraising as a Ministry foundational framework. Constantly display a passion for the mission of Every Home as well as our faith values to all donors and prospects Maintain in-depth knowledge of Every Home for Christ global strategies, projects, etc that are fundraising priorities and works in successful collaboration and inclusion of all other departments Represents the mission, religious beliefs, and values of Every Home for Christ in all interactions with current and prospective donors or external relationships. Demonstrate personal integrity and generosity in engaging with the mission of the ministry. Follows the spiritual requirements, disciplines, and biblical moral conduct necessary for a minister of the Gospel with Every Home for Christ. Major Gifts Team Leadership Provides leadership, planning and consultation to subordinates, executives, and peer management in the successful alignment of assigned department resources to ensure achievement of operational priorities and initiatives, integrating priorities within organizational strategies to ensure that department's purpose is fulfilled. Contributes to and adheres to the annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, and other Every Home standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and ministry policies. Selects, manages and develops assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and regular reviews; supports continuous learning and development that enhances individual performance and organizational capability. Lead, coach, and develop the Major Gifts Team, equipping gift officers to effectively manage and grow donor portfolios through cultivating meaningful, long-term partnerships with major donors. Lead the Major Gifts Team through the implementation and execution of established fundraising strategies, donor engagement standards, and moves management practices in alignment with organizational priorities and executive leadership direction. Establish and communicate clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability systems to ensure disciplined portfolio management and consistent donor engagement practices across the team. Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture within the Major Gifts Team that emphasizes relational stewardship and long-term partnership with donors through spiritual leadership, care for Collaborate closely with fundraising and marketing leaders to ensure strong coordination between relational fundraising strategies and broader donor engagement efforts across the organization Major Donor Strategy and Portfolio Oversight Lead the development and execution of strategy for major donor engagement, in partnership with executive leadership, ensuring thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship practices across the team. Direct and guide the development of donor strategies and engagement plans that align donor passions with ministry priorities. Lead disciplined moves management and portfolio development across the Major Gifts Team. Establishes strategic goals for fundraising growth; engaging and supporting each gift officer in attaining these goals. Personally manage, cultivate, solicit, and steward a select portfolio of key donor, church, and foundation relationships in coordination with the President/CEO and Chief of Staff. Model effective donor engagement, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship practices, under the principles outlined through the Every Home – Fundraising as Ministry philosophy, for the Major Gifts Team through active portfolio leadership. Institutional Giving and Foundation Partnerships Direct institutional giving strategy, ensuring effective coordination of foundation relationships, grant proposals, and reporting. Ensure effective cultivation and stewardship of foundation partnerships by gift officers, aligned with strategic ministry initiatives. Lead the development of strategies to identify, pursue, and expand foundation partnerships aligned with strategic ministry initiatives. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure strong communication of ministry impact and funding opportunities to institutional partners. Strategic Engagement with the President/CEO Coordinate strategic engagement between major donors and the President/CEO, working with gift officers to align and advance identified engagement opportunities. Support gift officers in leveraging the President/CEO’s involvement in donor relationships where appropriate. Assist in planning donor events, visits, and engagement opportunities that strengthen key partnerships. Prospect Strategy and Pipeline Development Direct and oversee strategies for identifying, qualifying, and cultivating major donor prospects emerging from the organization’s broader fundraising pipeline. Partner with the Marketing leaders to ensure strong integration between donor acquisition efforts and relational major gift development strategies. Guide the assignment and development of donor portfolios across the Major Gifts Team. Ministry Alignment and Opportunity Development Collaborate with global ministry leadership to identify strategic funding needs and emerging ministry opportunities. Translate ministry initiatives into compelling philanthropic opportunities that resonate with donors and foundations. Equip gift officers with clear messaging and strategic funding priorities from the field. Planned Giving Integration Promote planned giving opportunities as part of long-term donor relationship development. Equip gift officers to recognize and cultivate legacy giving opportunities among major donors and ministry partners. Reporting, Strategy, and Performance Monitoring Establish and monitor key performance indicators for major gifts and institutional fundraising efforts. Provide regular reporting and strategic insight to executive leadership regarding fundraising progress and opportunities. Ensure alignment between philanthropy strategy and the broader strategic priorities of Every Home for Christ. QUALIFICATIONS Has an active and personal relationship with Jesus Christ Active attendance/participation at local church Education: minimum of Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Non-Profit Management or related field; Master's Degree is preferred Experience: 8+ years of experience in successful nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy, or development AND 5+ years of successful formal team leadership Certifications/Licensing: biblical/spiritual leadership background; minister license or ordination by Every Home for Christ or similar church denomination in good standing.
