Description The School of Medicine (SOM) embedded psychologist position is centered in the CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) department within Emory Campus Life, and primarily focused the mental health and wellbeing of students enrolled in the SOM. The SOM embedded psychologists report directly to the Executive Director of Counseling and Psychological Services and will have a consultative relationship with the Associate Dean of Student Success from the School of Medicine in the Center for Holistic Student Success. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to the clinical care of Emory SOM students. Supports the mental health and well-being needs of students in the SOM through the provision of comprehensive psychotherapy and outreach services. Specifically, this position will provide individual, relationship, and group therapy; crisis intervention and support; consultation, case management, community referrals, and SOM embedded outreach programs and services. This position will be fully funded by the SOM and is created to meet the unique needs of students in the SOM. As such, this position requires flexibility, requiring some evening (e.g. participate in rotating on-call schedule for after-hours consultation related to urgent mental health needs), and weekend work as needed. Performs other related duties as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program and completion of an APA-accredited internship, and two years of psychological counseling experience. Applicants should also have completed all internship, postdoctoral hours and be licensed or licensed eligible as a psychologist in Georgia within twelve (12) months of hire. Applicants must also have demonstrated experience in working with medical and/or health science students, faculty, and staff, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of clients, students, faculty, and staff. In addition, applicants must have excellent clinical and communication skills, experience working with full range of human diversity and a strong investment in outreach work and community interventions that directly support the mission of the School of Medicine. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed for 2+ years. Experience working in higher education, counseling centers, and working with medical and/or health science students. Strong communication and collaboration skills, an interest in working as an integrated part of the CAPS team and with SOM administration, the ability to respond calmly and flexibly in crises, the versatility to handle diverse roles, an interest in outreach initiatives, and a demonstrated commitment to working with undeserved populations. NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion.
