Description

Overview Responsible for supporting aviation startup, transition, and special project initiatives across the organization, with a primary focus on Greenfield base openings, operational readiness, pilot coordination, safety, and training support. This role partners closely with aviation leadership, maintenance, clinical operations, and other internal stakeholders to help execute time-sensitive projects, stabilize new operations, and ensure aviation resources are aligned to meet service and operational demands. Position is a 60/40 split between priorities. Responsibilities Support the planning, execution, and operational readiness of Greenfield base openings, base transitions, closures, and other special aviation projects. Coordinate aviation startup activities including pilot staffing alignment, training schedules, aircraft availability, and operational logistics. Partner with Regional Aviation Directors, Area Managers, Maintenance, Clinical, Safety, and HR to ensure cross-functional alignment during project execution. Ensure aviation-related components of the Base Startup, Closure, and Movement Manual are completed accurately and within required timelines. Assist in coordinating pilot training (initial, transition, and recurrent) in partnership with the Pilot Training team to support new and transitioning operations. Monitor project timelines and identify risks to operational readiness, including staffing gaps, training delays, or aircraft availability constraints. Support aircraft movement planning including ferry flights, backup aircraft placement, and MOC coordination as needed for project execution. Evaluate operational compliance during startup and transition phases, ensuring adherence to FAA regulations, Operations Specifications, and General Operations Manual. Coordinate with Regional Safety and Maintenance leadership to address safety concerns, mechanical issues, and operational risks impacting project timelines. Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis tied to startup or special project operations when required. Provide regular status updates to aviation leadership on project progress, risks, and mitigation strategies. Assist in stabilizing new bases post-launch, ensuring proper integration into standard operations and handoff to regional leadership. Serve as a point of contact for aviation-related project execution, ensuring clear communication and accountability across stakeholders. Ability to work a flexible schedule and support time-sensitive operational needs. Supervisory Responsibilities May provide indirect oversight and coordination of pilots and aviation personnel during project execution. Does not serve as the primary long-term supervisor for a defined region but may support leadership functions during startup or transition phases. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function effectively. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 2,500 total flight hours. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Part 135 operation. Eight (8) or more years of aviation experience, preferably within air medical or critical care transport environments. Prior experience supporting base startups, operational transitions, or multi-site aviation operations strongly preferred. Previous leadership or project-based operational experience preferred. Skills Strong operational and project management capability with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with tight timelines. Strong decision-making skills with the ability to assess risk and act in alignment with operational and safety priorities. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage senior leadership and cross-functional teams. Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple departments. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to analyze operational challenges and develop practical, actionable solutions. Maintains objectivity and professionalism when addressing safety, compliance, and operational concerns. Computer Skills Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Ability to work within operational tracking systems, reporting tools, and internal dashboards. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate (Rotorcraft or Airplane). Current FAA Second Class Medical Certificate.
