Description Senior Environmental Scientist (Cultural Resources) Provides senior-level technical leadership for environmental compliance with a concentration in Cultural Resources program execution and integration with broader environmental planning requirements. Leads regulatory analysis, program oversight, and defensible documentation to support Government decision-making and mission readiness. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Environmental Scientist (Cultural Resources) : Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Senior Environmental Scientist (Cultural Resources) Responsibilities Include: Lead and support all aspects of the Cultural Resources Program, as requested, ensuring work products meet federal standards and are suitable for Government use. Draft and review technical input for Cultural Resources management plans, annual reports, and data calls, including updates to Crane’s Archaeological Resources Survey Plan. Plan and oversee field archaeological surveys and reconnaissance, including documentation, mapping, and integration of findings into compliance and planning deliverables. Develop and maintain mapping and `GIS` products to support cultural resources inventories, survey coverage, and project planning. Produce and quality-review cultural resources studies and reports, including evaluation of buildings, structures, and properties for significance under the National Historic Preservation Act (`NHPA`). Draft and review architectural studies and reports supporting identification, evaluation, and management of historic properties. Support recordation of historic properties in accordance with National Park Service and/or State Historic Preservation Officer (`SHPO`) standards, including required forms, narratives, and supporting exhibits. Conduct records research and documentation development, including technical photography and archival-quality image capture to support evaluations and reports. Support Native American consultations and coordination actions as directed by the Government, including documentation of consultation inputs and outcomes. Support sensitive cultural resources actions, including grave location/relocation documentation and coordination, as required by project scope and Government direction. Oversee or support laboratory treatment, storage, and/or curation of artifacts and associated records, ensuring chain-of-custody and documentation standards are maintained. Provide technical input supporting preservation actions, including cleaning, restoration, or stabilization of buildings, structures, statues, or monuments, as scoped by the Government. Develop conditions assessments and case alternative reports to support sustainment and restoration decision-making for historic assets. Lead digital copying and archiving of historic pictures, maps, drawings, newspapers, and books into searchable `PDF` (Adobe or equivalent) formats, supporting long-term records management and retrieval. Conduct and document audits, inspections, and investigations as needed to verify program implementation and data integrity. Serve as a senior subject matter expert to Government clients, providing clear recommendations, risk-based options, and defensible technical positions. Performs other job-related duties as assigned Senior Environmental Scientist (Cultural Resources) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Archaeology, Anthropology, Historic Preservation, Environmental Planning, or a related field aligned to Cultural Resources compliance. 10+ years of experience in environmental compliance and/or cultural resources program support, including development and review of technical studies, plans, and reports. Strong working knowledge of applicable federal and state requirements, including `NHPA` and coordination expectations with `SHPO` and other stakeholders. Demonstrated capability leading field efforts, managing complex documentation packages, and ensuring deliverables meet Government quality and defensibility expectations.
