    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Housekeepers are assigned to each Academic Building to maintain public/ common areas, to assist in eliminating distractions such as unwanted graffiti, dust/dirt, and unwanted smells from the learning environment and to assist in the protection of the faculty, employees, and student’s health and safety. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>Cleans all areas of the building including, but not limited to the following and other duties as assigned:                 </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Empties and cleans waste receptacles and replaces bags as necessary.</li>\n <li>Dusts and mops hard surfaced floors.</li>\n <li>Thoroughly vacuums, including all edges of carpeted floors.</li>\n <li>Arranges furniture to its original position.</li>\n <li>Reports any damage or vandalism to your Housekeeper or supervisor.</li>\n <li>Cleans glass to classroom entrance doors.</li>\n <li>Wet mops hard floors as weather and usage conditions dictate (daily during winter months).</li>\n <li>Dusts exposed horizontal surfaces such as window sills, empty shelves, door casings, and bottoms of furniture (NOTE: In scientific laboratories, bench tops and hoods are not to be cleaned by Housekeeping.)</li>\n <li>Replaces light bulbs as necessary.</li>\n <li>Clean all glass.</li>\n <li>Keep all entrances clean.</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned.</li>\n <li>RESTROOMS: DAILY\n  <ul>\n   <li>Empties trash receptacles, cleans as needed, and replaces bag liners.</li>\n   <li>Checks and replaces all paper products such as tissue and hand towels as needed.</li>\n   <li>Checks and fills soap dispensers as necessary.</li>\n   <li>Cleans and disinfects sinks, toilet seats, and side panels to stall partitions.</li>\n   <li>Cleans mirrors.</li>\n   <li>Cleans entrance panels to stalls of fingerprints, etc…</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Education, Preparation, and Training</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>High School diploma or GED </li>\n <li>At least 1-2 years experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Requires regular, reliable and predictable work attendance</li>\n <li>Ability to operate custodial and maintenance equipment</li>\n <li>Good knowledge of proper chemical storage, use and inventory</li>\n <li>Skill in maintenance tools and materials</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Extensive time sitting and standing</li>\n <li>Able to climb stairs, ladders and scaffolds, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach, and kneel</li>\n <li>Ability to lift 25-40 pounds</li>\n <li>Must wear a uniform</li>\n <li>Exposure to chemical cleaners and pesticides</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Travel</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Willingness to travel to New York locations</li>\n <li>Work takes place in Administrative Offices as well as outside venues</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
