Description

ERG is seeking a highly motivated Air Quality Research Scientist. Responsibilities will include managing and executing projects and tasks across a range of air quality measurement and monitoring initiatives, including community monitoring, near-road monitoring, oil and gas assessments, methods research, exposure investigations, source testing, and other air-related sampling and monitoring activities. The individual will be responsible for engineering, testing, and operating air quality measurement instrumentation on projects nationwide. They will also prepare work plans, quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), health and safety plans, and reports for work conducted by ERG.
Travel to project sites to conduct air quality research, sampling, and monitoring will comprise approximately 25–35% of the role, with field assignments lasting up to 3–4 consecutive weeks. Strong data processing skills will be essential for success in this position.

B.S. degree in Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field Strong aptitude and interest in science, technical work, mechanical equipment, and air quality research Experience with air quality measurement instrumentation Proficient in installation, calibration, testing, and operation of instrumentation Ability and willingness to travel 25–35% of the time, including field assignments of 3–4 consecutive weeks Comfortable working in outdoor field environments Data processing and analysis skills using R, MATLAB, or Python Ability to pass background checks and both initial and random drug screenings Experience preparing technical documents, reports, and work plans Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
