Responsibilities
Position is on the staff of a private, government consulting firm located in McLean, VA. The successful applicant will become part of an analytical team that supports public health systems management projects with a primary focus on Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and Risk Adjustment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software testing, a good understanding of healthcare systems, and a strong commitment quality and accuracy to deliver systems that calculate payment data and help inform Medicare and Medicare Advantage policy related to risk adjustment. Responsibilities include:
Test Planning and Strategy:
Design, implement, and execute test plans, cases, and scripts to verify the functionality and performance of health-related software applications.
Collaborate with project teams to ensure robust requirements and acceptance criteria for healthcare applications are created.
Define testing scope for features, including integration, functional, performance, and regression testing, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
Quality Assurance Testing:
Develop tests for new functionality and enhancements of various healthcare-focused data processing systems.
Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or equivalent.
Identify, log, and triage software defects, working closely with development teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Perform data validation to ensure data accuracy and integrity for systems that calculate critical data used for billions of dollars in healthcare payments.
Compliance and Security:
Ensure the software complies with healthcare-related regulations, such as HIPAA.
Conduct audits and testing for data privacy and security requirements specific to health projects.
Collaboration and Process Enhancement:
Participate in Agile ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to support team goals and project timelines.
Communicate and document test processes, results, and quality metrics for internal teams and key stakeholders.
Advocate for the implementation of QA best practices and process improvements to enhance overall quality and performance.
Training and Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated with the latest healthcare IT standards, testing technologies, and tools.
Share knowledge and mentor other team members to ensure quality practices are effectively adopted across the organization.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or a similar field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience as a QA Engineer, preferably with experience in healthcare, financial/banking, or related industries.
Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing tools such as Selenium, TestNG, Cypress, Postman, Appium, etc.
Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.
Exceptional attention to detail and analytical skills.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, medical professionals, and product stakeholders.
Capacity to work in fast-paced, dynamic, and highly regulated environments.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Experience conducting security testing and audits for sensitive systems.
Experience using Agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum), JIRA, and related tools.
Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, CSTE, or certifications related to healthcare quality standards.
Understanding of healthcare compliance frameworks such as HIPAA.
Experience in federal consulting.
Demonstrated experience with healthcare data projects (e.g. claims processing or payment systems) or financial/banking systems
Target Salary Range: $84,000 - $107,000
