          "text": "<p><strong><u>JOB SUMMARY</u></strong></p><p>This paragraph summarizes the general nature, level and purpose of the job.</p><p>The Pharmacy Technician I is the entry, developmental, and training level of the Pharmacy Technician Job Family that performs, under supervision of a pharmacist, non-sterile compounding, and central pharmacy operations including preparing medication doses, and responding to nursing requests. Demonstrates a basic understanding of the responsibilities regarding medication and pharmacy operations. This position assists the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services (e.g. processing prescriptions) in compliance with applicable State Board of Pharmacy regulations. Functions include those allowed by the Board of Pharmacy and are always checked before the product is released from the pharmacy. The Pharmacy Technician works under close supervision. Performs entry level work for a minimum of 6 months to about one year (regardless of years of experience gained elsewhere).</p><p><strong><u>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</u></strong></p><p>The essential functions listed are typical examples of work performed by positions in this job classification. They are not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks, and responsibilities. Employees may also perform other duties as assigned.</p><p>Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings.</p><p>Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.</p><p>* Compounds non-sterile, non-hazardous drugs and repackages medications using pharmaceutical mathematic calculations for pharmacist approval.<br>\n* Inventories supplies by checking for shortages, rotating stock, and removing expired medications.<br>\n* Accurately prepares and distributes medications.<br>\n* Documents compounding and medications in computer systems.<br>\n* Runs basic pharmacy operation reports.<br>\n* Responds to nursing requests by distributing doses to patients, successfully following security protocols.<br>\n* Performs basic controlled substance distribution and delivery.<br>\n* Fills medication trays and ensures accuracy.<br>\n* Utilizes pharmacy resources for accurate documentation.</p>",
