Overview
At Veolia Nuclear Solutions Federal Services (Veolia), located in Richland, Washington, we are working to support and provide innovative, sustainable, and elegant solutions to some of the most complex challenges facing our government and commercial clients. Veolia is looking for Electrical Engineers. In this position professionals will develop detailed designs and analysis of low voltage electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, communication systems, and instrumentation for industrial and nuclear applications. Successful candidates will be self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individuals who possess the ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment using excellent communication and time management skills. In addition, Principal engineers perform engineering design evaluations, provide input on design company level processes/procedures, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
Responsibilities
Participating in multidiscipline design teams to develop detailed designs
Working independently to develop specific design media to meet client design criteria and objectives
Development and/or review of design media that will be issued for construction
Preparing design drawings, design calculations, equipment procurement specifications, fabrication and construction specifications
Reviewing and evaluating customer design criteria and interpreting and applying design codes and standard to ensure design products conform to approved design criteria, preparing or reviewing design calculations and design drawings or sketches for correctness and accuracy
Develops and applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific area
Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects with complex features.
Works on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of major projects
Assists with proposals
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Professional Engineering License
15+ years of experience in engineering design
8+ years of experience in support of nuclear facilities or designs
DOE or Hanford Experience strongly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of national codes and standards such as NEC, IEEE, and IEC.
Demonstrated knowledge of electrical system analysis tools such as SKM Power Tools
Must have excellent written and oral communications skills as well as excellent computer skills that are relevant to job applications.
Desired Qualifications
Familiarity with MathCAD, AutoCAD,Solidworks preferred
Ability to obtain PE License in Multiple States
Experience with Federal Projects within the Department of Defense, Department of Energy or Hanford Specific Experience
Accountabilities:
Execute technical tasks assigned
Provide input to cost estimates and execution schedules
Support project management staff in planning and execution of work
Interacts with clients, customers, officials and contractors
Deliver scope on time, on budget and in accordance with expectations, including delivery in a safe and secure manner
Compliance with policies and procedures
