Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is looking for a dedicated Stationary Engineer 2 to join the team. This role will be Full-time working various shifts, rotating between days/nights every other month.

Stationary Engineer 2 Job Responsibilities:
Maintains all Power Plant equipment by following issued preventive maintenance orders and manufacturers' recommended procedures.
Repairs Power Plant equipment under directives and guidance from the Power Plant Supervisor; Completes documentation of repair work on Power Plant equipment and submits to the Power Plant Supervisor upon completion; Completes and returns all work and project management orders to the Power Plant Supervisor upon completion of the task while ensuring that the work is accomplished on or before the procedure due date.
Interprets plant and energy management system readings to determine if the equipment is operating properly and anticipates potential problems with equipment and systems.
Ensures chemical testing and storage areas are clean and chemicals are properly stored; Changes and disposes of empty chemical barrels as needed; Maintains necessary logs of water analyses and chemical additives by following Power Plant directives, policies or procedures and keeps Power Plant Supervisor informed of abnormal conditions.
Maintains Power Plant spaces in a clean, organized and hazard-free condition at all times by ensuring floors are swept and kept free of water, oil or other fluids and performs other floor/plant maintenance duties as assigned.
Cleans, paints and preserves assigned areas and equipment as directed by the Power Plant Supervisor while ensuring the plant is kept in a clean and hazard-free condition.
Assumes property accountability of Power Plant tools and equipment during shift operations to preclude loss of assets of the hospital.
Ensures Power Plant security directives, policies and procedures are adhered to at all times; Operates Power Plant equipment in a manner to minimize the risk of the loss of any utilities necessary for the provision of healthcare in the hospital.
Assumes full responsibility for plant operations during evening/weekend/holiday shifts and briefs the Relief Operators on all significant events.
Coordinates with other shop personnel to obtain assistance and information on utilities supported by the Power Plant.
Identifies the cause of the failure and takes necessary action to maintain continuity of utility service to the hospital in the event of an unexpected failure of any utility, item or equipment in the Power Plant; Initiates emergency notification procedures in accordance with Engineering department contingency plans, policies and/or procedures.
Maintains and annotates Power Plant logs required by departmental and Power Plant policies/procedures and ensures that logs accurately reflect plant operating conditions at all times.
Wears appropriate safety equipment and complies with departmental and OSHA safety standards at all times; Keeps personal workspaces and equipment in a safe and orderly condition to ensure personal safety and prevent injury while checking safety equipment to ensure availability and good working condition; Follows hospital infection control/universal precautions at all times.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent and apprentice training as a stationary engineer. Experience : 4 years of experience as a stationary engineer in a large power plant equipped with high pressure steam boilers, commercial air conditioning equipment and electrical generator systems; Strong background in HVAC, Mechanics. Certification : Low Pressure Steam Certification upon start. Licensure : DC or MD Class III License required; Military equivalent acceptable.
