KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching Assistants (TA’s) within the School of Nursing will play a key role in supporting teachingexcellence. The following are examples of the types of support the TA’s might provide depending on TA’sbackground and experience as well as the faculty, course, level of the student, and other factors such asclass enrollment.
Assist faculty with teaching and teaching-related duties in pre-licensure and post-licensure nursingcourses
Prepare, upload, and organize course materials, exams, and learning resources in Canvas and otherlearning management systems
Utilize instructional technologies including ExamSoft, Poll Everywhere, and lecture capture platformsto support course delivery
Grade or assist with grading exams, projects, and papers; proctor exams and oversee exam logistics
Serve as a first-line resource for students regarding course questions, access considerations, andgeneral academic support
Assist with coordinating review sessions, guided study activities, and structured Q&A sessions tosupport student success
Maintain organized records for classes, including grades, student concerns, and attendance
Monitor student progress and identify early trends in engagement or performance to supportproactive teaching interventions
Maintain all supplies and materials needed for classes
Support semester-to-semester continuity through organized records, reusable course materials, andstable workflow systems
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and educational technology experts to support the teaching mission
Performs other related duties with scope of position as required
Assists faculty with teaching or teaching-related duties.
May grade or assist with grading exams, projects, or papers; may proctor exams.
Maintains all supplies needed for classes.
Meets with students to discuss issues related to the class, as specified by the instructor.
Maintains records for classes, such as grades, student concerns, and attendance.
Performs other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health sciences, or related field
Proficiency with technology and use of instructional platforms such as Canvas
Previous experience with academic support roles and working with students and student informationin compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
