About ITTC North Bay At the International Tactical Training Centre (ITTC), the tactical flight training division of International Test Pilots School (ITPS), we operate at the forefront of tactical aviation training. Our dedicated ITTC facility in North Bay, Ontario is the hub of our expanding operations, delivering advanced tactical flight training to NATO and allied air forces. At the core of this operation is our fleet of Aero L-39 Albatros jet trainers, paired with modern simulation and integrated training environments. Engineering & Maintenance at ITTC North Bay Our Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) team in North Bay is central to delivering on that mission. Supporting a dedicated jet fleet, this team ensures aircraft are safe, serviceable, and ready to meet the demands of tactical training operations. The environment is fast-paced and operationally focused, where agility and attention to detail directly impact mission readiness. Position Summary The Quality & Safety (SRMS) Lead is responsible for overseeing the Quality Assurance Program in accordance with Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) 573.09, while supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the Safety & Risk Management System (SRMS). This role performs independent inspections, audits, and surveillance activities across aircraft maintenance, modification, and avionics projects, while also managing safety reporting, occurrence investigations, and risk mitigation processes. As a key member of the Engineering & Maintenance team, this position serves as a central point of accountability for quality, safety, and regulatory compliance as ITTC North Bay scales its operations. Key Responsibilities Quality Assurance Conduct independent inspections and surveillance of aircraft maintenance, modification, and avionics activities Perform audits of maintenance processes, documentation, and records in accordance with the Quality Assurance Program Verify compliance with: Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) AMO policies and procedures Approved maintenance and engineering data Monitor adherence to maintenance release procedures, technical records, and configuration control Identify non-conformances and support development of corrective and preventative actions Prepare audit and inspection reports, including findings and recommendations Maintain QA records in accordance with regulatory requirements Safety & SRMS Support the implementation and ongoing development of the Safety & Risk Management System (SRMS) Manage occurrence reporting, investigation, and root cause analysis processes Track corrective actions and monitor effectiveness of mitigation strategies Analyze safety data and trends to identify systemic risks Support regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., CADORs) as required Promote a culture of safety and proactive hazard reporting across the organization Integration & Oversight Participate in internal and external audits, including Transport Canada oversight activities Act as a liaison across maintenance, engineering, and operations to ensure alignment on quality and safety requirements Maintain independence and objectivity in all QA activities while supporting operational teams Perform other duties in support of compliance, safety, and operational readiness Qualifications & Experience Valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licence (preferred) or equivalent aviation technical background Minimum 5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance, quality assurance, safety, or compliance within an AMO environment Strong knowledge of: Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), particularly Subpart 573 AMO Quality Assurance Programs and audit processes Safety Management Systems / SRMS principles Experience conducting audits, investigations, or regulatory reporting (e.g., CADORs) is considered an asset Core Competencies High attention to detail and strong analytical skills Ability to maintain objectivity and independence in a regulated environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities Ability to operate with a high degree of ownership in a fast-paced, scaling environment Work Environment Combination of office and hangar environments Involves interaction with aircraft, maintenance personnel, and technical documentation May require occasional travel to support operational or audit requirements
