Description

Enjoy working hands-on with fixing, creating, and maintaining welcoming spaces? Join us as a Facilities Maintenance Technician. Help keep Pittsburgh Botanic Garden clean, operational, and guest-ready. In this visible yet behind-the-scenes role, you’ll use your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and practical maintenance skills to support events and facilities and enhance the overall guest experience. What You'll Do Perform handyperson and facilities tasks, including minor repairs, basic carpentry, fixture replacements, painting touch-ups, and troubleshooting small maintenance problems. Serve as the core of our guest experience by maintaining public spaces that are clean, well-stocked, safe, and welcoming, from sunlit atriums to cozy rest areas. Assist with Garden events and educational programs by setting up and taking down tables, chairs, tents, and equipment; each day will be unique. Assist with grounds maintenance and seasonal tasks, such as clearing leaves, maintaining walkways, removing snow, and keeping outdoor areas safe and accessible. Monitor facilities to identify maintenance needs, proactively resolve issues, or report them for further repair. Greet colleagues, vendors, and visitors warmly and professionally to foster a welcoming culture of hospitality. Assist in organizing storage spaces, upkeep tools and equipment, and guarantee supplies are prepared for daily activities and events. Take pride in making the Garden both attractive and practical, whether setting up a classroom, fixing a fixture, or restocking a supply cart.
