We are one of the largest groups of dermatology practices in the area and believe in providing our new associates with intensive training and long-term career growth opportunities from within. </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Dermatology Associates of Knoxville </strong>(DAK) offers state-of-the-art specialized procedures in Mohs surgery, aesthetic skin care and general dermatology.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Job Summary: </strong>As a Surgery Tech, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive patient care and support within a clinical, surgical setting. Your responsibilities will encompass various tasks, including escorting patients, collecting vital information, preparing procedure rooms, assisting during surgical procedures, and ensuring adherence to company policies and HIPAA regulations.  </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><em>Duties/Responsibilities:</em></strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Escort patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking. Collect patient information/history; take vitals, and perform screenings per provider guidelines. </li>\n <li>Prepare paperwork for the patient’s current visit and ensure complete and accurate documentation within the patient’s electronic medical record. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Complete pre-operative intake via a one-on-one interview with the patient, explain surgical procedures, and answer any questions within your scope. </li>\n <li>Prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays with all supplies needed for procedures. </li>\n <li>Comply with all company policies and procedures in adherence to HIPAA regulations. </li>\n <li>Drape and disinfect the surgical site, administer an injection of local anesthesia, and use a handheld cautery device to achieve hemostasis. </li>\n <li>Assist the physician during all procedures (passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures, etc). </li>\n <li>Bandage surgical sites, prepare proper discharge paperwork, review wound care instructions with patients, and answer any questions or concerns they may have. </li>\n <li>Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization in an autoclave. </li>\n <li>Collect and accurately process specimens. </li>\n <li>Prepare pathology and lab specimens. Route to correct lab as required by patient’s insurance. Maintain accurate pathology log. </li>\n <li>Remove sutures. </li>\n <li>Notify patients of pathology and lab results. </li>\n <li>Respond to patient questions in the office and on the phone as instructed. </li>\n <li>Schedule or re-schedule appointments with providers, specialists as necessary. Send appropriate records as necessary. </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain medication samples, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records. </li>\n <li>Maintain infection control. Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, and keep supply cabinets well stocked. </li>\n <li>Document all medical instructions given to patients. </li>\n <li>Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Experience & Education: </u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>At least 1 year of recent experience as a Surgical Assistant, Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, LPN or other clinically based patient care experience (highly preferred) </li>\n <li>Completion of a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Surgical Tech program OR bachelor’s degree program in a pre-med or pre-physician’s assistant track <strong>(required)</strong></li>\n <li>An ability to work independently, excellent communications skills, organizational skills and flexibility required</li>\n <li>Thrives in a fast-paced environment and able to work well within a team </li>\n <li>Professionalism and strong customer service skills is a must </li>\n <li>Able to communicate with doctor clearly and concisely </li>\n <li>Able to communicate with patients and co-workers in a professional and friendly manner </li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><em>Physical Requirements:</em></strong> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds, stand for prolonged periods (i.e. an hour at a time) and use a step stool </li>\n</ul>",
