    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">ODC Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to outdoor education and conservation throughout West Michigan. At the heart of our mission is the ODC Early Childhood Network, where we proudly offer nature-based discovery preschools in Allegan and Ottawa County. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Our commitment is to provide enriching early childhood learning opportunities for children aged 0-5, fostering the development of social, emotional, and academic skills. The ODC is looking for a teacher with a genuine love for young children and a commitment to high quality care who is talented, enthusiastic, and motivated to be part of our team. <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">This position will start mid-August and will work 40 hours per week during the school-year only.</span> Teachers at all ODC Early Childhood Centers must be willing to spend time outdoors in all weather with their students!</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The School-Year GSRP Lead Teacher will provide a high quality, developmentally appropriate nature-based preschool experience for children ages 2.5-5 who are enrolled in one of ODC Network’s Early Childhood programs. </span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Primary Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Supervise and monitor the safety and development of children.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Interact with students in nature and the classroom setting, engage students in learning activities, prepare meals and snacks, and maintain a safe learning environment.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Change the diapers/pull ups of children and manage potty training needs</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Develop and plan age-appropriate learning activities, such as small groups/enrichment activities for individual children and outdoor activities, based on nature-based curriculum and philosophy.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Organize outdoor and indoor classrooms and learning resources.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Plan and lead large group activities, nature hikes, and explorations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Complete daily anecdotal note-taking and required assessments through Teaching Strategies GOLD and PELI (Preschool Early Literacy Indicator) Assessment</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Communicate with parents about their child’s development and daily experiences</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Participate in staff meetings, staff professional development events, and other ODC Network events (some of which may be scheduled outside normal work hours).</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Document child’s day using the Procare App Professional Responsibilities: Maintain educational and training requirements for child care licensing and quality program assessments</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Professional Responsibilities: </span></p>\n<p>Maintain educational and training requirements for preschool licensing and quality program assessments.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Supervision/Evaluation: </span></p>\n<p>Supervision and evaluation will be provided by the Site Director. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Other Skills and Abilities: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Maintenance of a healthy, safe, and positive environment for staff and children</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Collaboration with parents, children and colleagues</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrated interest in helping to teach and develop young children and early childhood education.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Strong decision making skills to respond to emergencies or difficult situations</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Commitment to learning in nature and being outdoors.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Willingness to spend a significant amount of time outdoors each day, in all types of weather.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrated good character, responsibility and suitability to meet the needs of children with diverse backgrounds and learning differences.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrated ability to work in a team. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Ability to pass a complete Michigan background check, including fingerprinting. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Current certification in First Aid/CPR, or willingness to receive training if needed.</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">Education/Experience:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Experience working with children and families</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">To satisfy GSRP requirements, candidates must have either:</span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A Michigan teaching certificate with an early childhood endorsement (ZA, ZS, ZN, or ZO/PK–3) or </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development focused on preschool teaching or</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education plus a valid Preschool CDA</span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Physical Demands:</span></p>\n<p>This position requires the following physical activities: pushing, pulling, climbing, walking, standing, squatting, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, lifting, bending, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing and visual acuity. The work/teaching is performed indoors and outdoors.
