We are currently looking to fill a full-time, permanent position for a Production Manager in our Production Department at our Laredo, TX facility.
What You'll Do (Job Specific Tasks):
Responsible to ensure required product (produce and dry goods) are on site for pending production orders in a timely manner. Alongside the Production Scheduler, amend the Repack schedule to pack other products until the required supplies are on site. Oversee pending sales orders in NAV to plan the schedule for the next day of production. Amend the production schedule as sales orders are revised, cancelled or new orders are received throughout the day. Coordinate preparation of shipments with the Shipping Supervisor. Track progress throughout the day to ensure that ship times will be met and make required labour adjustments to meet deadlines. Monitor production to ensure the lines are running smoothly and troubleshooting issues when they arise. Coach supervisors to ensure they are promoting and contributing to a safe, positive, motivated, and fair work environment. Ensure that the production area is kept clean and organized by following the cleaning procedures for specific locations for the placement of pallets, produce, and dry goods. Co-ordinate ongoing communication with all other departments impacted by activities in the production area. Ensure that production numbers are correct, and that the proper specifications are being used for any off-grade product. If significant product is being lost from any lot or commodity, this must be communicated with Allocation and QC Manager. Assist and occasionally back up or fill in for any supervisors when needed to ensure daily work is completed. Fill in or cover for any position needed to ensure the success of the team. Directly responsible for ensuring production hours are within the appropriate standards. Daily monitoring of time and attendance, preparing for payroll, and approving employee timecards. Report and participate in investigating labour and H&S related incidents alongside Human Resources. Complete incident/accident reports and/or progressive discipline as needed. Completing yearly reviews for supervisors and assisting supervisors with team member reviews. Work collaboratively with the Compliance Department to ensure all health and safety and food safety training is completed, and supervisors ensure daily compliance to related policies and procedures. Communicate with Purchasing regarding needs, new merchandise, returns etc. Must comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Bio Security, and Nature Fresh Policies and Procedures. This job description highlights the main components but is not inclusive of other activities that may be required. What You Bring (Qualifications):
Must have 3-5 years of experience in Production/Warehousing with supervisory experience managing a team. Post-secondary experience in Management, Supply Chain Management, Business is preferred but not a requirement. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including good Excel skills. Very high degree of confidentiality and integrity required regarding all aspect of the business and employee matters. Ability to gain trust and maintain respectful relationships with employees at all levels and across all departments is critical. Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex problems with limited information and changing conditions. Critical thinking and ability to make decisions in a timely manner; good judgement and fairness are key. Effectively prioritizes work. Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow directions. Comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment and with time sensitive deadlines. Strong reading, writing, oral communication, and effective listening are essential skills. Commitment to continuous learning. A valid driver’s license and use of personal vehicle are required as needed. Must be available to work Monday through Saturday including holidays; flexible hours including weekends and extended hours if needed. Spanish considered an asset. What To Expect (Working Conditions & Physical Requirements):
Fast paced warehouse environment where temperatures vary from cooler to temperature-controlled areas. Working with a wide array of people/culture in a team setting. There may be an occasional need for some heavy lifting (when needed).
Balance between sitting, standing, and walking throughout the warehouse – some office but mainly a hands-on approach
