Store Manager
Position Summary
The Store Manager is accountable for the overall success of retail and resale operations, including financial performance, merchandising, staff leadership, community engagement, and online sales. This role ensures operational excellence while advancing the mission and values of BHcare and the Umbrella domestic violence program.
This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours a week with the hours being, Tuesday-Saturday, 8:30-4:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities
Store Operations & Financial Management
Oversee and coordinate all aspects of daily store operations, including inventory control, fixture maintenance, and merchandise pricing.
Manage daily cash operations, including register activity, cash receipts, deposits, and accurate recordkeeping.
Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and ad hoc operational and financial reports.
Monitor store income and expenses in partnership with the Director of Development and Marketing to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for staff, volunteers, consumers, and customers.
Merchandising & Sales
Plan and implement effective merchandise layouts and promotional displays to maximize sales.
Inspect merchandise to ensure pricing accuracy, quality, and presentation standards.
Evaluate merchandise assortment and recommend additions or discontinuations to optimize sales performance.
Coordinate and execute special sales and promotional events.
Schedule and oversee donation pickups and manage the responsible disposal of unsellable or damaged merchandise.
Online Resale Operations
Oversee all aspects of online resale operations, including item selection, pricing, photography, listing creation, order fulfillment, and customer communication.
Manage sales through third-party online platforms and ensure timely fulfillment and high customer satisfaction.
Staff, Volunteer & Vocational Supervision
Provide overall leadership, direction, supervision, and evaluation of store staff and volunteers.
Supervise and support vocational consumers utilizing the store as a worksite.
Provide ongoing training on merchandise sorting, pricing, display standards, safety protocols, and customer service.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven work environment.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
Collaborate with the Director of Development and Marketing to implement marketing, advertising, and community outreach initiatives.
Partner with local businesses, schools, and community organizations to coordinate donation collection programs, including clothing bin initiatives.
Address customer and donor concerns promptly to maintain positive community relations.
Organizational & Professional Responsibilities
Serve as a resource within the organization and participate in internal and external committees as required.
Maintain and enhance professional knowledge through ongoing education.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree or coursework in business, retail management, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in retail store operations and management, including direct supervision of staff and/or volunteers.
Demonstrated experience in inventory control, merchandising, cash handling, and customer service.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence.
Proven leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills with the ability to train, coach, and develop staff and volunteers.
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing operational needs.
Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with email, internet-based systems, and online sales platforms preferred.
Strong commitment to the mission and values of BHcare and the Umbrella domestic violence program.
