    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Landscape Specialist (Planting / Softscape)</span></p>\n<p><br>Garden City Tree &amp; Landscape is seeking a skilled and motivated <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Softscape Specialist</span> to join our growing team. This role blends hands-on landscape construction, plant knowledge, and softscape Installation</p>\n<p>If you enjoy working outdoors, have a strong understanding of plant care, and can confidently plan and place plant material to enhance a space — we want to hear from you.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Install and maintain softscape elements including trees, shrubs, perennials, and sod</li>\n<li>Perform planting, transplanting, soil preparation, and garden bed construction</li>\n<li>Assist with layout and design of planting areas, including plant placement and spacing</li>\n<li>Sketch simple planting plans or enhancement concepts for projects</li>\n<li>Identify plant species and diagnose plant health issues</li>\n<li>Apply proper plant care techniques including watering, pruning, and fertilization</li>\n<li>Work alongside construction crews on landscape builds</li>\n<li>Follow landscape plans and ensure high-quality installations</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hands on experience in landscaping, horticulture, nursery work, or softscape installation</li>\n<li>Horticultural knowledge and ability to understand plant health </li>\n<li>Ability to sketch simple planting layouts or enhancement concepts</li>\n<li>Strong understanding of regional plant species and basic landscape design principles</li>\n<li>Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions</li>\n<li>Physically capable of lifting, digging, and performing manual labor</li>\n<li>Team-oriented with a strong work ethic</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preferred Experience:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Nursery or garden center experience</li>\n<li>Background in general landscape, softscape and garden bed installation</li>\n<li>Experience with plant selection and layout for residential or commercial landscapes</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Benefits:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Spend your days outside in Victoria’s beautiful environment</li>\n<li>Gain real-world skills in landscaping and horticulture</li>\n<li>Opportunities for growth and advancement</li>\n<li>Quality work clothing</li>\n<li>Extended Health and Dental Benefits</li>\n<li>Life insurance</li>\n<li>On site Free Parking</li>\n<li>Access to in-house mulch and soil for personal use.</li>\n<li>Free coffee from our in-office machine.</li>\n<li>Monthly team gatherings with food and beverages on Garden City.</li>\n<li>A supportive, inclusive and friendly and safe work environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Compensation </span></p>\n<p>$26.5-$32 per hour depending on skills and experience.<br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Schedule:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Regular: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM </li>\n<li><em>Seasonal Hours (April 13 to September 27, 2026)</em>:<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br>Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (4 day a week 10 hour a day schedule)</span><br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Work Location:</span> Different Greater Victoria work sites.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">About Us</span></p>\n<p>Garden City Tree &amp; Landscape Ltd. is a leading landscaping company dedicated to creating beautiful outdoors for our clients all over Greater Victoria for twenty years.
