    "requisitionDescription": "<div><h1 data-pasted=\"true\">Learning Lab Tutor</h1><p><strong>Status:</strong> Part-Time, Contracted (1099 Independent Contractor)<br><strong>Department:</strong> Youth Development / Academic Support<br><strong>Reports To:</strong> Learning Lab Coordinator<br><strong>Location:</strong> YMCA Learning Lab Program</p><h2>Position Summary</h2><p>The YMCA is seeking enthusiastic and student-centered Learning Lab Tutors to support elementary-aged students in strengthening their reading and math skills through targeted small-group instruction. Tutors will help create a positive and engaging learning environment while supporting academic growth aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.</p><p>This is a contracted 1099 independent contractor position and is not eligible for YMCA employee benefits.</p><h2>Schedule</h2><ul><li><p>Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday</p></li><li><p>7:10 AM &ndash; 8:20 AM</p></li></ul><h2>Compensation</h2><ul><li><p>$50 per hour</p></li></ul><h2>Essential Functions &amp; Responsibilities</h2><ul><li><p>Work with assigned small groups of students (3&ndash;5 students per group)</p></li><li><p>Provide targeted instruction in reading and math aligned with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks</p></li><li><p>Support students in building academic confidence and strengthening grade-level skills</p></li><li><p>Maintain a positive, engaging, and structured learning environment</p></li><li><p>Communicate student progress, concerns, and attendance issues with the Program Coordinator as needed</p></li><li><p>Arrive prepared and ready to support student learning during designated sessions</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with the Tutor Coordinator regarding weekly schedules and student assignments</p></li><li><p>Adapt instruction based on changing student group assignments and learning needs while maintaining consistency within assigned grade levels</p></li><li><p>Utilize materials provided by the Lead Coordinator, including printed materials, whiteboards, markers, paper, and pencils</p></li><li><p>Provide any additional instructional materials deemed necessary for tutoring sessions</p></li><li><p>Ensure no electronic devices are used during tutoring sessions unless specifically approved by the Coordinator</p></li><li><p>Model YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in all interactions with students, families, and staff</p></li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul><li><p>Massachusetts Elementary Education Certification preferred</p></li><li><p>Experience working with elementary-aged students in academic or enrichment settings</p></li><li><p>Strong communication and classroom management skills</p></li><li><p>Ability to provide engaging and differentiated instruction in reading and math</p></li><li><p>Reliable, organized, collaborative, and student-centered approach</p></li><li><p>Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff</p></li></ul><h2>YMCA Competencies</h2><ul><li><p>Supports youth development through positive relationship-building</p></li><li><p>Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, and reliability</p></li><li><p>Creates an inclusive and welcoming learning environment</p></li><li><p>Communicates effectively with staff, students, and families</p></li><li><p>Works collaboratively as part of a team</p></li></ul><h2>Physical Demands</h2><ul><li><p>Ability to stand, walk, and engage actively with students during tutoring sessions</p></li><li><p>Ability to lift and carry instructional materials up to 15 pounds as needed</p></li></ul><h2>Work Environment</h2><p>This position operates in a classroom or learning lab environment within a YMCA or school-based setting.</p><h2>Equal Opportunity Statement</h2><p>The YMCA is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees, contractors, participants, and families.
