    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p><strong>The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements, which may be inherent in the position.</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>A coder 1 is responsible for utilizing coding policies and procedures in evaluating the diagnostic information within the medical record for determination of accurate APC assignment for reimbursement of services rendered and for verifying/abstracting clinical information into the organization's health database.  A coder also makes medical necessity determinations for Medicare and Medicaid out-patient testing utilizing the appropriate software.</p>\n<p>A coder 1 functions under the direct authority and supervision of the Coding Supervisor and Director of Health Information Management.</p>\n<p>Some of the many skills performed </p>\n<p>·         Coding of diagnoses for ancillary outpatient services, i.e. Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging, PFT, etc.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>EDUCATION:</p>\n<p>·         High school graduate or equivalent</p>\n<p>·         1 - 2 years of experience in a health care setting</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:</p>\n<p>·         RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC-H certification preferred</p>\n<p>·         Certification must be obtained within one (1) year of employment</p>\n<p>                       </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<h2>About Us</h2>\n<p>Lake Guntersville, a mountain-lakes jewel, is located approximately 30 miles from metro Huntsville – and is home to Marshall Medical Centers. </p>\n<p><strong>Marshall Medical Centers</strong>, an affiliate of the Huntsville Hospital Health System, serves the residents of Marshall County and the surrounding area (population approximately 125,000).
